Black, White, and ……. GREEN?!?

Driving along today, I pass a billboard for Banana Republic.  It’s black and white, with a lovely damask pattern, and there is a model in an apple green coat.  I adore black and white, but green?!  Yes green!  It looked amazing together!  I wish I could find a picture of the billboard but instead I’ve been hunting around for some pictures to make a black, white, and apple green event look just as perfect as that ad campaign.

The overall feel for this event has to be chic, modern, and most of all bold.

First, the stationery.  I can’t stress it enough – the stationery set is the FIRST thing your guests see and it sets the tone for the event.  This set by Ceci New York is perfect.  I love the combination of the big black floral pattern and the retro-chic green circles (but my favorite touch is the calligraphed belly band).

Next, the flowers. One of my favorite new blogs, The Bride’s Cafe, had a post last week with gorgeous white and green bouquets.

These would be my inspiration florals.  The bouquet in the top left is my favorite, using the bouquet wrap from the bottom left.  And the bottom right are the perfect building block for the centerpieces, in which branches are a MUST!

We can’t forget the favors!  And as you know by now, my favorite source of favors is Martha Stewart.  Use these black and white favor ideas as a starting point and add your own spin.

Lastly, the most fun part – the dresses!  For the bride – a bold color requires a bold and sophisticated dress.  Don’t wear a traditional ballgown with your apple green!  I love these classic-with-a-twist dresses from Monique Lhullier’s Fall ’08 runway:

Your bridesmaids will look fun and fresh in apple green frocks, but keep them short so they don’t look swallowed up by the green.  Here are some ideas from Brides – I love the real wedding image!

Isn’t it funny how a simple billboard can inspire?  What colors are you “into” right now?
