The To-Do List

Some big checkmarks are about to come down the pipe.  This weekend I head to Atlanta for meetings with my event planner.  We are heading to prospective caterers, decor houses, and day after brunch spots.

I’m very excited to see the South City Kitchen in Midtown.  The best thing?  It’s within walking distance of my venue.  The brunch menu looks amazing!

Very excited to meet (and have tastings with) my prospective caterers.  It’s going to be so fun!  The food is definitely an important part of the event to me and I have a set idea of what I want the menu to be, but unfortunately no one is cooperating with me.  I’m sure we’ll come to a compromise (i.e. – I’ll get my way) but I don’t know why getting exactly what I want is such a hard thing!

Also on the agenda is discussing entertainment.  I seem to want a lot of musicians, so it will be interesting to see what I end up with.  I haven’t ruled out much of anything yet with regard to types of musicians except the harpist.  It’s just not going to be that kind of music.  :)

I’ve been focusing a lot on this blog lately but it’s almost time for me to sink my teeth into another DIY project.  I *wish* I could post on all of them here but I very much want everything but the venues to be a surprise to my guests, so alas you all will have to wait until after the details have been revealed to see all of my special projects.

Last but not least this weekend is BRAVES FANFEST!

I’m extremely sad that this year the FanFest isn’t in Turner Field (this is the first year it’s being held in the convention center).  Usually we get to run the bases, eat ballpark food, pitch in the bullpen, hang out on the Lexus Level, and take tours of the clubhouses.  Plus, all of us “regulars” have our running shoes on and know how to manage the queues in the ballpark.  This is a whole new adventure for us, and it’s not one I’m happy about.  I suppose we’ll see how this year’s logistics work out.  However, I will say it’s going to be warmer!  We are usually standing outside in 30 degree weather waiting.  Hopefully our lines will all be indoors this year.  One great reason to be excited?  Anne and her husband may come to Atlanta to meet us – this is one of the weekends each year we always try to get together.  I hope we get to see each other!

So, assuming I pick a caterer and a brunch spot and somewhat decide on musicians, this should be a very productive trip!
