Reduce

DIY Bride posted some great advice a few days ago:

Just because you have a $30,000 budget doesn’t mean you must spend $30,000 on a wedding day. There’s absolutely no shame in small- or mid-range budget weddings, no matter what’s being advertised to you. Small budget doesn’t equate tacky or that you’re not “measuring up” in any way. Get those thoughts out of your head right now! Spend only what’s in your financial comfort zone and what you can afford on your own. (How To Recession Proof Your Wedding)

Slightly depressing title, but the post is full of great advice. And it’s a great reminder that reducing is usually a good thing!

Absolutely! I have helped many brides with a moderate budget and their weddings have been beautiful! One word of advice- Don’t try to do alll of it yourself. Get professionals who are reasonably priced and pay them to do the worrying!

I will say an amen to that. You never know what life will throw at you next…We had the savings to have a huge blowout wedding but chose to do it for about $10,000. Thank goodness we didn’t use all our savings, after our honeymoon we found out we had to rewire and replace the electrical service on our house–which cost almost as much as our wedding.
