I Heart My Google Reader, Part I

Anne has mentioned numerous times that we’re Google lovers. Perhaps you could even call us Googlebots. Like 80% of the free world, we both use Gmail. And naturally, we keep up with our favorite blogs using Google Reader.  Reader is somewhat like Tivo, in that I read *way* more blogs now than I did prior to having it (like I watch *way* more TV with Tivo). I’m subscribed to a whopping 370 blogs. Yes that’s 3-7-0.
80 of my subscriptions are Photography blogs. I believe they are all wedding photographers. Although I blog stalk all of them, I do have a few that you might not have in your reader but should: Olivia Leigh, Melissa Jill, Studio 317, Kim Le, and Michael Norwood.Â
I have 16 blogs in my Design folder - these are mostly gorgeous blogs on home decor and design. They are all absolutely wonderful but I have three favorites - Design for Mankind, the Paris Apartment, and Desire to Inspire.
My Pretty Things folder encompasses 55 blogs. These are just what I say they are - really pretty things or blogs with really pretty photos. A lot of inspiration board photos come from these blogs! Three great ones are: Making It Lovely, The Sartorialist, and Absolutely Beautiful Things.
The rest of the blogs are all about weddings. There are SO MANY amazing brides and vendors that maintain blogs that it needs a whole separate post. So stay tuned tomorrow for my list of favorite wedding blogs that you might not be stalking but should be!

I heart my google reader. I’m amazed that I use to click on blogs each day to see if there was anything new. My reader has freed up so much of my time, I really don’t think I could live without it.

Wow Elizabeth–thanks for including me in your favorite photography blogs! I’m flattered :). I’m amazed that you can keep up with 370 blogs–amazing! I think I have like 50 and I always feel behind :). Google reader is the best thing though!
Is there a way to see if/how many people are subscribed to your blog?
I too love my Google Reader. I wouldn’t be able to sneak so much blog reading in during the workday if it weren’t for my GR!

PJ - yes, there is a way to see how many people subscribe to your blog. At the top of the reader window, under the tabs that say “feed settings, expanded view, list view”, there is a link that says “show details”. Click on that and it will show how many subscribers you have!
