A lot of those traditional Parisian Bistros have very similar menus and graphics, with a kind of turn of the century feel to them. It doesn't look over the top in any way. It's very elegant! I think that if someone can look at pictures and guess what the "theme" was, you may have taken it a bit too far. But from looking at your board, I don't see a French bistro (your inspiration) - it looks like a simply elegant, gracious and warm affair. As far as invitations go, I would keep them simple like your STD's. I would use that dark gray color (I love that your STD's look like chalkboards!).
