Elizabeth’s NC Wedding

Elizabeth, an EAD reader, wrote us asking for advice for her October wedding. She says…

I am having a wedding in Asheville NC at a farm–ceremony out in the meadow, cocktails and dancing in historic barn, and seated formal dinner in tent. I am looking for an elegant wedding juxtaposed with the rusticity and organic feeling of the farm setting (e.g., we are hanging chandeliers and draped fabric in the old tobacco barn for a cocktail lounge). My letterpress invitations are ivory with pewter lettering and my dress is an ivory Reem Acra. I would like to add some color to the grey/ivory combination and am thinking a sage color. Can I do gold accents with that (e.g. gold chiavari chairs at dinner) or am I better off going with silver? Any more general ideas for the look/feel I am going for in my wedding?

I do love the sage/ivory/pewter with a hint of gold combination. The colors are both outdoor and elegant, and sage is a really hot color right now. However, because the wedding is outside you might have too much green. What do you think about light blue? Or a mauve? Stay tuned for more of this today….

we heart your comments!

Thank you so much for the inspiration for my wedding colors! I love the feeling of the old photographs, would be a nice touch to incorporate our family histories. I do like light blue or mauve (or maybe a soft blush pink?), and I am not completely set on the sage color. I didn’t think about the overload of green colors– I have been so focused on the fall foliage aspect of our outdoor wedding I forgot it would actually be *green* outside too! Thanks again for input on my barn wedding design–I love this website!

wow! polyvore is so cool!

I love the tones of this board, by the way, so romantic! I’m not too much of a green fan, but I do like the sage shade. I think a shell pink could also do.

P.S. I bought my blank coasters from http://www.americancoaster.com/. You have to buy a minimum of 1000 coasters, but they’re pretty cheap (starting at $13 for 1000 coasters).

whoops! sorry Anne. the coaster comment was meant for Elizabeth.
