Incorporating Music
I love the idea of incorporating song lyrics into your event.
A few ways to make your evening musical:
1) Include a song lyric on your invitation set, as seen on many Ceci New York materials. It could be your first dance song, “your song”, or any lyric that embodies the spirit of you as a couple.
2) Have custom cocktail napkins printed with different song lyrics. It would be a great conversation piece for your guests to figure out which song it’s from while they’re awaiting your grand reception entrance!
3) Place the lyrics to your ceremony music in your program, as you would the words to your readings. Song lyrics get overlooked sometimes, but are so meaningful and can often take the place of a poem.
4) Carry a theme out through your music. For example, if you are using birds in your decor/printed materials, weave songs into your play list such as “Come Fly With Me” and “Songbird”
5) Create song request cards using the lyrics of songs you have on your playlist. Here is an example of one that I’m using (shhh, don’t tell my guests!) with the title of a Blues Brothers song we will be playing. I’ve got a few of these up my sleeve.
I’m sure you guys can think of more - share your ideas with us!

Awe–we danced to Better Together by Jack Johnson, and it would have been adorable to have ‘better together’ on cocktail napkins, invites, etc. Great idea!!
The song Better Together by Jack Johnson is very meaningful to us, so we are going with a whole Better Together theme for our wedding, including having it as our first song. I’ve already designed our website, weaving the BT theme into it…and we are hoping to do a s’mores bar at the wedding because what’s better together than chocolate, marshmallows & graham crackers?!?! I’m trying to come up with something for the favors now…
I have a rubber stamp that says “All You Need is Love” - I love to use that on the back corner of an envelope.
love love love ideas 1-3. so easy and simple!
For one of our client’s weddigns we asked her for some of their favorite songs that were meanignful to them, and put the meaningful parts on the back of the menu’s (they were stand-up tented menus - so you could easily see both sides). It gave guests a glimpse into the couple as they were waiting for their meals, and was another way to personalize something. I also really encourage brides to use something different to travel up and down the aisle to - something meaningful to them.
Oh these are great ideas! Its a great way to make things a little more personal. Thanks!
