When I asked my groom what he wanted for our wedding, he had only one request. He wants us to get married in the same church that his grandmother, his mother an his aunts and uncles got married in. It's his families neighborhood church and he had always dreamed that one day he would take a wife in this very church. It was decided on right there and then. I am honored to be following this beautiful family tradition.

My mother's family is from Texas. But real Texas. West Texas. Just like Friday Night Lights - no exaggeration. And b/c of that and her southern superstitions, we are using a stand in at the rehearsal. For those of you who aren't familiar, some southern brides believe it's unlucky to practice walking down the aisle during the rehearsal. The bride should only walk down the aisle the day of her wedding. So a close friend, not in the wedding party, takes the place of the bride during the rehearsal, known as "the stand in". I've asked a close friend from grade school, also who coincidentally lives in Texas now (not real Texas, San Antonio), to be my "stand in" :)
