The Save the Dates

Welcome to the EAD Weddings blog! We are so excited to have you here. If you are a new visitor, we'd love for you to subscribe to our RSS feed and visit our sister site, EAD Living. Thanks for visiting and we hope you come back soon!

We were so happy with our engagement pictures that we decided to use them for our save the date cards. A few years ago I received an invitation to a work event in a vellum envelope. I loved how the graphic on the card showed through the crisp envelope. I held on to that invite and thought it’d be fun to do something similar for our save the dates!

This is the front and back of our save the date cards.

I designed the cards themselves in Illustrator. The little scroll is a vector image that I found on istockphoto. I cannot recommend that site enough, individual designers are able to sell their work - and you’re able to get great clip art for a few dollars!

I purchased the vellum envelopes online, they were very inexpensive. We put the cards in the envelopes backwards and used address labels on the ‘back’ of the envelope. So when you received the card the image showed through on the ‘clean’ side. They were so easy to do and we received lots of compliments!

Very cool!! We’re also using an engagement picture for ours, but we had our photographer “design” them.
I love your photos - and you’re right, they are a great way to see what works and what doesn’t!

Where did you get the vellum envelopes? I love this idea.

Jenna, I got the envelopes from paperandmore.com
They were $11/box of 50 for white vellum. I had looked around and this was the best deal I could find!

Pretty! I like it!

I LOVE this idea! How did you handle printing of the actual card?

I agree, very cute! I especially like how you can see you image through the vellum.
