Hello readers!

We’re working on a top secret project and need your help. Please leave a comment below with your answers to these questions.

Where did you buy your dress?
Where did you want to buy a dress?

A.

we heart your comments!
  1. I bought my dress at Columbia Bridal Boutique in Maryland (http://columbiabridalboutique.com). They were great and reduced the price on my dress when I told them I had found it elsewhere for cheaper.

    Originally I wanted to buy my dress at a discount store in North Carolina, Bridal Mart (http://bridalmart.com), but I didn’t find anything there I liked. Almost everything was a bit too big and poofy and Southern for my taste.

  2. Ooh, a secret! Okay, then:

    -Bridal Center of Chattanooga, a small bridal shop which has since closed.

    -Bridal Center of Chattanooga! I loved the atmosphere and the selection she had, so I really wanted to support her business. I’m happy I did!

  3. I bought my dress at La Bella Moda in Conshohocken, PA. I wanted to buy my dress at Suki in Ardmore, PA – ooh, la la!

  4. Bought half of it from akira (need to add on to it)
    Wanted to buy an Yves Saint Laurent.

    Bought at Bijou Bridal in Paramus, NJ – awesome service and selection. Dress is not in yet, but will be soon!
    Wanted to go (and fit in) lacy Pronovias.

  6. i bought my dress at mon amie bridal salon in costa mesa, ca
    i wanted to buy my dress at nicole miller in los angeles

  7. I bought my dress on eBay from a private seller. I knew I would either buy dress from eBay or David’s Bridal.

  8. Bought my dress at RK Bridal in New York City. I wanted to buy it wherever I found a dress I loved with a price in my budget – the name of the store wasn’t too important. Also shopped at Kleinfelds, which was nice, but thought RK was better, surprisingly.

    I bought my dress at a Monique Lhuillier sample sale in LA (just got back home from it!!). I didn’t have a preference as to where I bought my dress.

    I bought my dress from Bridals of Regiss Park in Glasgow, KY (went across state borders to save on sales tax- and they beat the price I got in Nashville).
    I wanted to buy my dress from B. Hughes in Nashville, TN (Vera Wang shop).

  11. I bought from Netbride.com. I wanted to buy from Netbride.com :)

  12. Well- if I was going to buy a dress, it would be at The Wedding Shoppe in Wayne, Pa. The gowns are amazing and the service is top notch! Of course, I tell my clients about it! If you want my fantasy– Judd Waddell or Amsale- the showroom! They are the ultimate in my mind. I know this isn’t fair since I am not a bride, but couldn’t resist!!!

  13. I bought by dress from La Marie in Sarasota Fla. I love my dress – but if I had an unlimited budget I would have gone for a Lela Rose gown.

  14. KateMW writes... {July 13, 2008 at 9:05 pm}

    I haven’t bought a dress, but my answers are I’m probably buy a JCrew dress, but if I could have anything, I’d have a Vera OR a Lela Rose. Who knows…maybe I’ll splurge and go for one anyway. If I was to buy a Vera or a Lela Rose, I would go to NYC and go to their showrooms/stores.

  15. I brought my dress at Bridal Reflections in Carle Place NY. Wanted to by my dress exactly where I got it from!

  16. Jenna writes... {July 13, 2008 at 9:23 pm}

    I bought mine from A Bride Beautiful in Salt Lake City. I knew I wanted to buy from them because of their skill in alterations, and I found out that they could order almost any dress from any designer for me! So I went ahead and shopped around at different salons and as soon as I found the dress I wanted I called to find out if they could order it. I wonder if most bridal shops have that ability?

  17. I bought my dress at Bridal Sense in Sandy Springs, GA (Atlanta)www.bridalsense.com
    I didn’t really have a place were I wanted to buy my dress – I would have however have loved to have bought a Monique Lhuillier dress.

  18. I bought my dress at Andrisen Morton in Denver, CO. My dress was a sample that was on sale for half the original price. I originally wanted to buy my dress from J.Crew.

  19. Hilary writes... {July 13, 2008 at 10:02 pm}

    I bought my dress at European Bridal in Cincinnati.

    I went to lots of salons, but the owner was extremely nice and very accommodating at European Bridal, so I decided to get my dress there because of the service. I went several times, until the owner picked a dress from a sample show just for me! I was the first to try it on, and bought it same day.

  20. I bought my dress at The Brides Room in Wheeling, IL.

    Initially I thought I wanted to buy my dress at Wedding Belles in Barrington, IL but I didn’t find what I was looking for there since they only carry sample dresses.

    Plus I feel in love with a dress at The Brides Room and they’ve been nothing but wonderful to me so far in the dress process!

  21. I bought mine from Chrissy Wai-Ching in Seattle (fitting on Tuesday!!!). It’s a custom dress for way less $$ than a lot of wedding gowns. She was the only place I looked… bridal salons really freak me out. :-) Not saying they’re not great places for some people to buy their dresses; just not my cup of tea.

    I purchased my dress from Trudy’s Bridal Salon in Campbell, California. I wanted to purchase my dress from either Trudy’s or the Bridal Galleria in San Francisco.

  23. I also got my dress from Mon Amie in Costa Mesa.

    I wish I could have had the funds to go to the Monique Lhuillier salon in Los Angeles.

  24. I bought my dress at Morgane Le Fay in SoHo. I wanted something offbeat and unique. I didn’t really have a place where I wanted to buy my dress and if I had to do it all over again, I still would have bought my dress at Morgane Le Fay, it was the perfect place for me.

  25. I got mine from Promise for the Savvy Bride http://www.promisedc.com and it was made by Vwidon – http://www.vwidon.com

    I SO WISH I could have bought it from one of the online wholesalers like House of Brides or NetBride…I wanted to go that route from the beginning but the Vwidon label was so obscure that nobody did wholesale/resell. Only 3 shops in the country even sell the darn label.

    Just my luck to pick something so random.

  26. I bought my dress at Warren Barron Bridal in Dallas, TX. It was exactly where I wanted to purchase my dress, but I didn’t know it until I went to all of the other salons.

  27. i purchased my dress from bridal mart in burlington, nc.
    i wanted to purchase my dress from victorian rose bridal in raleigh, nc. they have a great selection and good service. they just didn’t have my dress!

  28. Irene writes... {July 14, 2008 at 8:15 am}

    I bought my dress at Kleinfeld Bridal in NYC. I wanted to buy my dress at a smaller boutique salon or wherever i found the right dress at the right price.

  29. pammietee writes... {July 14, 2008 at 9:07 am}

    I bought my dress at Kelly’s Closet in Atlanta and wanted to buy my dress there, as well.

  30. I’m actually having my dress my made by a family friend, of a friend. I would love to have bought my dress at Suky, in Ardmore, PA.

  31. I bought my dress from J.Crew.

    I can’t say I wanted to buy from anywhere else but I did look at Watters a lot.

  32. I bought my dress at Kay’s Kreations in Tupelo.

    I almost bought a dress from Bella Couture in Birmingham. I really wanted to go to Carriage House in Birmingham, but thought they might be a smidge out of my price range. Plus my mom and aunt insisted that I not confuse myself anymore. :)

  33. I bought my dress at Priscilla of Boston

    I knew I wanted a PoB dress pretty much from the day I got engaged. I would flip through magazines and could easily spot her dresses.

  34. I bought my dress at Brides and Beaux in Colleyville, TX. That’s where I happened to find my dress.
    http://www.bridesandbeauxtx.com/

    I didn’t really have a preference as to where I wanted to buy my dress.

  35. I bought my dress at The Glass Slipper in Panama City, Fl.

    I am glad I bought it there, but the one shop that I would have preferred from an aesthetics point of view is Simply Elegant in Fort Walton, FL. Its built into this amazing old house with BEAUTIFUL wood etc.

    I bought my dress at Miosa Couture in Sacramento. As soon as I walked in that shop I knew I wanted to get my dress there, especially since everything is custom, which is great when you are short! I have been very happy with the service and quality there. I was disappointed with the quality to price ratio at other salons I visited, especially at the huge places like House of Fashion. The only other place I seriously considered was Amy Kuschel in SF. All of her dresses are custom too.

  37. I got my dress at The Bridal Collection in Denver. It had all the designers I could have wanted, except for Claire Pettibonne. But I couldn’t have afforded her dresses, anyway, so the experience was perfect.

    I bought my dress at White Lace and Promises Bridal Boutique, Knoxville, TN – they have a huge selection

    I wanted to buy a dress from Annabell’s Bridal in Athens, TN (formerly Brittney’s Bridal in Maryville, TN) – they’re a smaller store, but have great prices. The owner is a family friend and the store has wonderful customer service. The bridal party and my mother all bought their dresses from Annabell’s.

    I purchased through Ultimate Bride in Chicago and Kleinfeld’s in NY. I wish I could have purchased through Saks in Chicago because their customer service was first-rate!

    I bought my dress at a store in North Liberty, IA called Heart to Heart. I love it, and it was so much cheaper than I had budgeted for!

    Because our wedding is in NYC, I had wanted to buy my dress in Kleinfeld, for the experience. I had envisioned my mom and sister and I going together, but in the end I was in Iowa and found the dress when I was shopping alone!

    I tried dressses on from Kleindeld in NY to Claire Dratch and Riziks Bros in DC. I finally had mine made as I couldn’t find what I was looking for (color and with sleeves – HATE strapless dresses)

    I would have love to have bought from Carolina Herrara as she is one designer that seems to create beautiful dresses thinking about the person who is going to wear them.

  42. I bought my dress at Maya Palace in Tucson, AZ.
    I had absolutly no idea where I wanted to buy a dress from. Weddind dresses, salons and purchasing of were so off my radar!

  43. I bought my dress at a small shop in Huntington Beach, CA called Ginny’s bridal.
    I originally wanted a Melissa Sweet dress or a few other designer options from Mon Amie in Costa Mesa, CA. I decided to scale back the budget though when I found a Pronovias gown at Ginnys that I loved.

  44. Bought it at The Wedding Shoppe in St Paul, MN. I tried telling myself that I could find a dress anywhere, but I knew I really wanted to find it there.

  45. I bought my dress on Ebay! It was a brand new gown that retailed for $800. I paid $101 with shipping and handling. It was perfect!

  46. Kleinfeld in NYC. For both.

  47. I bought my first dress at Alegria in Belmont, MA. I bought my second dress at Tulle on Martha’s Vineyard. I would buy my dress at Tulle 100 times over. The store itself is gorgeous, the staff is knowlegeable and friendly, and the selection is phenom.

    I bought my dress at Low’s Bridal in Brinkley, Arkansas. Although the salon is in a small town (located halfway between Little Rock and Memphis), they had an amazing selection of designers and the customer service was great. The building is also charming because it is located in beautiful historic building that once was a hotel. Because they had such a large selection, it was the first salon I visited, and I never had need to visit another.

  49. I bought my dress at Macy’s on State Street in Chicago.

    I wanted to buy my dress at Macy’s on State Street in Chicago. I ended up spending more than I wanted but I got the dress of my dreams.

  50. i bought my dress at Le Soie bridal in Tustin, CA

    i really had no preference where i had “wanted ” to buy it

  51. My dress is from a small, beautiful Los Angeles label called Alix & Kelly.

    I didn’t care where I bought my dress, but knew I wanted it to be simple, sophisticated, hopefully vintage inspired, and that it would feel like me. As a bonus, I was able to support a small, local business owned by 2 inspired women, which feels so much better than buying one from a huge corporation!

    My mother is making my dress – it is a copy of an Oscar de la Renta dress that I tried on at Ultimate Bride in Chicago.

    I wanted to buy a dress from Belle Vie Bridal Couture in Chicago because my consultant was amazing!

  53. Seattle: The Bridal Garden (in Kirkland actually) and La Belle Reve are gorgeous and special salons. We also have a lot of custom couture designers here, surprisingly I think. Luly Yang, Madina Vadache, Cicada–all faves. And Isadora’s for gorgeous vintage wedding dresses. Oh, I so wish I could go buy another…

  54. i didn’t buy my dress- it is my mothers.
    and i dreaded the idea of shopping for one, so i was super relieved when it fit. :)
