The Party Recap

Welcome to EAD Weddings! We are so excited to have you here. If you are a new visitor, we'd love for you to subscribe to our RSS feed. Thanks for visiting and we hope you come back soon!

Last Saturday was quite a night to remember for my sister-in-law, aka Miss Cupcake from WeddingBee. Myself, her maid and matron of honor, along with my amazing mother-in-law and another bridesmaid had been scheming for months to create a twist on the traditional bridal shower!

The theme for the shower was a 1930s prohibition-era cocktail party “with a twist”. We asked all the guests to dress in their 1920s ritzy rags and keep the bride in the dark on the details, since the theme was a surprise to her. One of the best parts about the planning, was that I designed two different invitations, one sent to our lucky bride with most of the details omitted and one to the guests with the theme and details shown!

Here’s a look at the two invites side-by-side:

To carry the theme throughout, we also had sent a Save The Date Email blast to all guests as a little teaser:

For party favors, I designed a set of 10 old-fashioned cocktail-recipe cards, renamed to reflect the guest of honor - for example the Martini became The Brooktini and a strawberry daiquiri became The Brooke-a-licous. Dressed to the nines, each guest was given pearl necklaces and feathered headbands to complete their ensembles upon entering the party. Feather boas abound and a mashpotini bar completed the decor while a selection of yummy bite-size cupcakes and a fountain of chocolate made everyone’s mouths water.

Make sure to check out our post later this afternoon with a full D.I.Y. tutorial explaining how to recreate these fun favors for your next event!

I saw this on Cupcake’s post and every detail is perfect! I’d love to know which cocktails you chose- I prefer sidecars and old-fashioneds, myself :)

Miss Sweet Tea, the Sidecar was renamed “The Side CR-V” since I drive a Honda CR-V :-)
