DIY: Out of Town Guest Boxes

It seems that some of readers out there were interested in how I created the Out of Town Guest Boxes for my own wedding, and I’m more than happy to share a little how-to with everyone.

The design on the boxes pretty much evolved from my save the dates - I just took the look and details from that and the name tags included the same chandelier from my wedding invites (see Fred & Ginger, design #2). Each guest name was written by hand with a light blue gel pen.

Supplies:

Directions:

  1. Once your design is finalized, follow the Gocco instructions and make a screen. Apply ink to the screen and begin printing image onto the center of the flattened box.
  2. After you’ve allowed the boxes to dry completely, assemble fully and fill with goodies (we included our favorite candy, bottles of water, snacks, and the invitation to our post-wedding Sunday Brunch.
  3. Burn second Gocco screen with design for name tags.
  4. Apply light blue ink (made from mixing blue and white) and print image to right side of cards.
  5. Allow name tags to dry, punch circle on the top left and affix light blue eyelet with punch tool.
  6. Thread bakers twine through the hole in name tag and affix to gable box.
  7. Close boxes and ENJOY!

Here’s a peek at the save the date we sent to each guest; I picked up the same design to provide a consistant look throughout all our printed goods. Also in the mix is a shot of our after-wedding brunch invites, part of the set of goodies that made it into the final boxes!

we heart your comments!

These are too cute. I love gable boxes.

I love the price of those gable boxes too! How much do they hold? What did you include in your oot boxes?

Hi Jennifer,
Great deal, right! We stuffed them with 2 small bottles of water, 2 bags of chips or pretzels, a custom assortment of candy - live savers, mints, hershey kisses; that we prepackaged in small clear baggies (about 20 pieces for ea. box) and two granola bars! Oh, and the brunch invite.

I have been looking for something like this. This is very cute!

Oh yay! we are doing this too! GLAD to see it’s been done before and it’s not a crazy idea. i just bought some sample white gable boxes at the container store this weekend to test with. which reminds me, must order gocco supplies.
