I’m so excited to share these pictures with everyone! The only good pictures I had were of the back of my dress, on a model, so it’s wonderful to finally share what my dress looks like on me!!
Yesterday was my very first dress fitting for alterations, and my next one will be in about a month. Hopefully that will be it, but I’ve left myself some time in case more needs to be done. I think I’ll be okay – I’m only having the top taken in and the length shortened slightly. Other than that, it fit like a glove!
I brought along my orange shoes, my “shapewear”, and a veil a family friend is willing to let me borrow. After she was finished pinning….. :
And here is a picture of the vintage brooch I bought off of Ebay last week, to pin under the bustline:
Along with a vintage bracelet:
Okay, so I’d like your advice! What do you think of the veil?? Is it too short? I think the comb is a little large, but I could deal with that. I’ll be wearing my hair in a low bun, kind of like the last picture, and will have a fluffy flower piece in from Myra at Twigs & Honey. Any suggestions or ideas??
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Stunning! I think the veil looks great, and I can’t wait to see what the brooch looks like on the dress. I think it is an excellent touch!
You look beautiful!
Ideally, if the veil extending down to the end of the fitted part, it would be perfect. But the one you are wearing looks beautiful too. If there is any sentimental value for it (or you dont want to spend more money for a veil) go with the one in the picture.
wow! absolutely stunning. your dress is perfect!
we’re almost dress twins with orange shoes! (i love your dress btw)
I think the one tier veil goes wonderfully with your dress.
(I don’t know what I’m doing that I can’t post on your blog, so I’ll write here!)
I searched up and down for similar ruffle dresses when I was dress hunting but had no luck…I love how modern yours is.
I’m with the barefoot bride- I would look for a fingertip length veil, with a raw-cut instead of trim to go with the style of the layers on the dress. I got mine from veil-shop.com and it was super cheap and it looks great.
Beautiful Rachel! I can’t wait!
I think I agree with some of the previous posters–I think the veil could be better if it were longer or shorter. With all your vintage elements and the beautiful flower, have you considered a bird cage veil–that would be stunning.
Either way, I KNOW this wedding is going to be gorgeous–let the countdown begin!!!!
It’s the only time in your life you have to wear a long veil… I would go at least to your hips…
and I just scrolled up again. I think your veil should go at least to the top of the ruffles. Which is below your hips. And I think it’s very bridal for people to have floor length veils…
I LOVE YOUR GOWN!!!! You look beautiful.
I third(?) the fingertip veil with raw edge.
Wow – you look SO beautiful! I’m on the orange shoe train with ya, sister! Congrats!

rachel – you look absolutely STUNNING in your gown! go you!!! :)
You look stunning! I love your ruffly dress. Personally I would go for a fuller veil as I think this one gets lost a little, with how full the skirt of your dress is.
I love the brooch too, it’s beautiful.
