I Heart DIY

These Hope Jars (posted last week) are so adorable that I just had to add them to my DIY list, which by the way, my partner has refused to collaborate with me on any longer. She says I’m taking on too much but I say it’s fun! Please help me to convince her that I need a partner in crime. :)

How many projects are you taking on? Do you regret any of them?  Any of the recent brides have advice for brides to be?

E.

we heart your comments!
  1. Those bottles are the greatest things I’ve seen all week. I’m totally borrowing this idea and incorporating them into my reception decor. Thanks! As for taking on DIY… I only hope I don’t regret how much I am taking on! I hear DIY flowers can be extremely dangerous- but I think I can handle it.

  2. We are actually DIY:ing the entire wedding (except the wedding dress)… and we will hopefully not regret it.

  3. E – you are doing exactly what I advise brides not to do! I kept adding on DIY projects because they were cute ideas, or so much fun, oh – what is one more… until I thought I was going to pull my hair out! It ended up being too much. I was never able to stop and say, I am ready for the wedding because I have finished everything. I thought that since I was finished, I could add another project. Also, coordinating the theme or feel of a wedding isn’t my specialty. By adding all these different projects, I think that they actually took away from each other instead of working together for a common feel.

So my advice is be careful with how many DIYs you continue to add. :) I do like the bottles and they dont seem like too much work. Maybe you could do them instead of a different project? You will feel better once you can say “I am finished!”

  4. definitely leave enough time to enjoy the moment. You don’t want to be sitting up the night before your wedding, making the finishing touches on a few last projects. It’s too stressful, and could quite possibly make your special day pass by you.

  5. stop the madness! lol yeah, they’re cool, cute, and fairly original. but what about everything else on your list? and will having sooo many things for people to notice mean that people will be overwhelmed and notice NOTHING? also, you should probably be mindful of your budget, right? 10 inexpensive projects add up to $$$!

  6. those are adorable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i did a lot of work on my wedding.. the only thing I regret not being resourceful. although i felt i was really resourceful. a lot of project i tried to take on myself… at the last minute asked everyone for help.

  7. everyone thought I was crazy but I insisted on lining the envelopes to the invites all myself; it was a huge project but entirely worth it; the things I went through just to get the paper..everyone thought they were ‘professionally’ done! I m glad I added that touch. :) do it!
