Custom Made Is Where It’s At!

Nine months ago I had never heard of Etsy. However, I soon discovered Etsy was an online wonderland of all things custom made and unique. You can easily fall in love with a million items wedding and non-wedding related.

When I ran across Etsy vendor Myra Callan of “Twigs and Honey” there was a 2-3 week wait. Now with her ever growing popularity you’ll need to wait until late this year or even early 2009 to get a hold of her hand-made custom pieces!

My lovely hair piece.

I wanted something special for my 4-year-old niece Brooke. I emailed a picture of Brooke’s Flower Girl dress and Myra created a delicate handband with our wedding colors in mind.

It matched perfectly to the basket my florist Kristin of The Treasured Petal created just for her.

My next Etsy purchase was my beautiful rhinestone broach pearl bracelet by Dana Saylor Designs.

I love personalized items and immediately fell in love with the embroidered hanger by Etsy’s “Twisted Sisters Stitchery.” I loved the beaded eyelash trim and creamy ecru fabric.

I had Holly of Twisted Sisters customize my hanger with my new married last initial in the middle, my first initial on the left and Geoff’s initial to the right to show unity. It was the perfect way to showcase my gown!

My last two custom pieces were are not from Etsy vendors but I did want to showcase them nonetheless.

I worked with bridal veil extraordinaire Candi Merle of Crowning Glory Designs in Orange County, CA. I’ve always loved the Mantilla veil but knew it wouldn’t fit with my wedding day hair. I’ve also always dreamed of having a drop veil or a blusher that fell seamlessly over my face. Candy created a hybrid of the two and the result was a fingertip length mantilla – drop veil and here’s the result!
