Real Weddings: Joni + Chip

Fall is starting to make its appearance in Chicago – it’s a little nippy but clear outside, everyone is wearing light jackets, and I need to get my boots re-heeled!  In light of all the gorgeousness that is my favorite season, we have an amazing fall wedding today from Almasy Photography.

Our bride and groom: the absolutely adorable Joni and Chip.  Joni is an industrial designer and Chip is a web and graphic designer so they put their skills to work to create a completely unique event!

Joni and Chip held their wedding at Joni’s father’s farm in Ellaville, GA.  A screen-printed sign led the way from the outer road.

The tractor hanger on the farm was renovated into one of the most unique ceremony and reception sites I have ever seen!

… the two lovebirds saw eachother before the ceremony.  These shots are so classic – I’m a BIG fan of couples seeing eachother before!

The stunning florals were created by Leon Holloway.  I especially adore the cotton boutonnieres – such a great southern touch!  The couple also created their own pattern for fabric manufactured just for their wedding party to be used as sashes and bow ties!

During the renovation of the hangar, beautifully restored windows were hung from the ceiling to create the backdrop for the ceremony.

All of the small details really worked together to create a wonderful overall feel.  Chandeliers combined with galvanized pails of Coca-Cola and screen printed signs…. Sigh.  Melody Burke worked with the bride and groom to coordinate the day and make sure things went off without a hitch!

Berries and mason jars are oh-so-chic for fall, and again, the galvanized steel was brought into the equation which added such a feeling of rustic elegance.

And of course, a fun time was had by all at the reception.

  1. I LOVE Almasy and I love love love this wedding!

  2. Beautiful wedding!!!

  3. Love it, especially the ties and sashes from Southern Proper!

  4. What thoughtful, unique, personal touches! I also love the chandeliers…were they rented or purchased…from where?

  5. Thank you for sharing this wedding, ladies! We LOVED getting to know Joni and Chip. Their wedding was really amazing, because every one of the gorgeous details was such a reflection of who they are as designers and as a couple. We are lucky to run into them often in Atlanta, and they are every inch the classy southern couple you see here!

  6. Love, love, love, love the charm, vintage details, the groom’s bowtie, the beautiful signage!!!

  7. This is such a Southern wedding. The details are so great. I adore that the groom wore a bow tie. Excellent post.

  8. What a sweet post – thank you so much! We had so much fun (and Anne and Dan are the best)! Janie, the chandeliers under the shelter were rented from the Rental Depot in Albany, GA, and we purchased the chandelier at the farm entrance.

Ok…Joni ,so you got married in Ellaville…because I guess you’re family is from there..WOW where is your dad’s farm..your wedding was beautiful (I am from Ellaville). I am having so much trouble finding a place that I want to get married in the area because I really just do not want a church-wedding because I am getting married in the fall for the colors…and because there are more options with having a wedding elsewhere (like no alcolhol for the reception etc.)
