Nice post!!! Remember the approach is everything whether you are negotiating with a vendor or your potential husband! Being sweet always wins out over pushy and severe. Also, the BEST negotiations are a win-win situation. That's why sometimes it's easier for planners (third party) to assist you with negotiating.

Thank you for the wonderful and helpful post. I try to ask as much as I can, though sometimes it can be intimidating. I agree with you about being nice and friendly when negotiating. At my work, we are more inclined to help the nicer people.

It never hurts to ask, but don't be surprised if you get a lot of no's on negotiating. Vendors who base their prices on real numbers are less likely to negotiate because there are employee salaries and Uncle Sam to pay. Wedding prices aren't as inflated as many people think once they sit down and do the math.

thank you so much for your kind and heartfelt words! it's amazing how much a response over the web can really make a difference! this entry is awesome, and i'm so looking forward to following your blog! i'm not sure where the negotiation is possible with our contracts already signed, but i will try in other areas!
