I can honestly say that nothing delights me more than the idea of a rousing game of "hide the pickle" :)

What great ideas for throwing a shower for a friend that hasn't registered for the practical things yet. Thanks so much for this!

of all the things you spoke of above, the primary thing i can recall is that you had a shower in OCEAN CITY MARYLAND!! while i live in kansas, i am originally from cumberland (3 hrs north of b-more) and went to OC every year until i was 19 years old. unintentionally, you just brought back a swell of memories for me of my favorite summer past time.

in answer to your question; no unique showers for me yet. i'm five months engaged, but who knows what 2009 holds!

Ooh, I have been to a STB party, but never considered it for a shower! I love that idea! My fiancee and I have lived together for awhile, and we're both nesters by nature, so we really have all that we need in the kitchen department. Our liquor cabinet, on the other hand, could certainly use some upgrades and variety! I foresee having a few showers (similar situation as you!) and will definitely suggest this for the shower with the most, uh, youthful attendees!

I once attended an "around the clock" shower where each guest was assigned a specific time of day and their gift had to correspond with something that the couple would be doing at that time. I saw some very creative gifts!

No showers yet, as we've only been engaged for 10 days, BUT I had to mention that I actually bought three of those pickle ornaments! My fiance is 100% German, so I got one for us and one for the in-laws, and one for a friend. I thought they were hilarious!
