Love it!
We’ve used fish in the centrepieces on a few funky weddings. Definitely a conversation starter!
Many people probably don’t know this but in some cultures, the fish is a symbol of good luck, prosperity and strength. So while it serves as a unique centerpiece, it also gives good vibes to the newlyweds.
My cousin did this, she married a guy with the last name Fish…it was a fish filled wedding. This was my favorite part.
That is SO cruel. It may look cool, but come on.

So those fish will just swim around in a glass for one evening, then… what happens to them after the reception?
We have an aquarium in our office for our ‘wedding fish’. We even have a portable pump we take on the road to ensure the fish have enough oxygen. It’s not cruel and they are well looked after.
i love the idea! and i dont think it’s cruel! most of the time they are FEEDER fish anyways! I am using fishies for my wedding centerpieces and after their night to shine! they are going to be used for what they are… FEEDERS! since I have 6 hungry little turtles! lol!
How is this cruel? What better things do fish have to do than swim around all day anyway? The best thing to do is invite guests to take the fish home. If you are unsure of how your guests will treat the fish then maybe you should reconsider your guest list. I am sure that the fish get fed prior to the wedding and will be “happy” in their new homes with your guests. Seriously, aren’t there bigger things in this life to worry about and stand up for, such as abused children and homelessness, than how goldfish feel? I think this is a beautiful idea especially if you want a less formal feel to your wedding and something a bit different than flowers. I am considering it for my own wedding. :o)
