… or get creative! How about filling with moss and propping an escort card in each one? Mini nests can be purchased {here}.

Katherine’s Military Wedding
Last March, Kat sent over her inspiration board for her military wedding. We helped her with a few questions, and the wedding was held last August. The amazing thing is that she planned the wedding while her fiance was overseas on tour. Not only that, but she found out in July that she had to move to move the wedding up a month to fit in between deployments. She did a fabulous job, and we’re so happy to share it with you!
First up, her original inspiration board.
A few fun details (how gorgeous is that dress?).

Food Glorious Food
To my mind food, drink and music are the three most important structural aspects of a party; the framework for the more ethereal connections between people and their ideas and emotions. This week we will look at food.
I think food is particularly important at family celebrations. Feasting at family events is a tradition that crosses cultures and has very deep roots in our collective cultural history. For myself and Rachel preparing food with our families is very much a part of our culinary heritage and it was important for us and our families to be closely involved in the selection and preparation for our wedding meal, as we would not be on the day. Thus, we decided on a hog roast (the ultimate feasting food) and we opted for a buffet rather than table service to capture the spirit of a family celebration rather than an event. It was important to us to bond over food with our caterer and we found just the man.

Wedding Details: Paint Can Gift Baskets
These perfectly-branded paint can out of town baskets are just darling. They are also budget-friendly and easy to DIY! You can buy empty paint cans at most hardware or home improvement stores, and even some scrapbook stores.

One scrapbooking tutorial for decorating empty paint cans can be found here. Use your imagination - these can be as simple or complex as you make them!

The Reception
I hope you guys have enjoyed seeing our wedding and learning more about Indian traditions as much as I have enjoyed sharing them with you!

Fresh Floral Arrangements at each table:
The Table Names: (These were created in Photo Shop by me and then printed out folded and inserted into frames. The names came from different Bollywood Movies, we made sure to use the romantic ones only!)

Wedding Details: DIY Fabric Escort Cards
Created by Inchmark and found via Black Eiffel, these DIY escort cards are so crafty and unique.
Instructions can be found {here}. Display on an escort card board with round head map pins as shown, or perhaps forego the punched hole and put them in your DIY escort card rolodex!

DIY Wine Glass Charms
During our cocktail hour, we honored Georgia by serving bellinis. Because the drinks would look identical, the idea of glass charms sounded like an easy and fun DIY project. And it was!
I ordered cabochons, a package of mirrors to fit the cabochons, and diamond glaze from Ornamentea, purchased some 20 gauge jewelry wire and 4mm jump rings from my local craft store, and grabbed my stash of small paper scraps, pliers, and beads.

{author’s personal collection}
You will need:
- Round nose pliers
- Chain long nose pliers
- Wire cutters
- Needle nose pliers
- A ready-made charm, or a cabochon that can be altered (or, if you’re creative with wire, make your own charms!)
- Beads (optional)
- 4 or 5mm jump rings
- 20 gauge wire
