I can't seem to fit it in my budget, but I looove watching the amazing cinematic video trailers and highlights. There is a videographer in my area that just does incredible work, but they are so far out of my budget...and now they're booked on my day too. It makes me a little sad. OK, very sad. So, I'm hoping I can live with just having a home-video of our ceremony and some wonderful photographs. I’ve had the same dilemma with videography! Being very visual people we fall in love with a certain look or idea and it's hard to let that go. Sometimes just staying with an idea and researching it and asking around can lead to an awesome find that makes the wedding planning even more exciting. But Abby at Style Me Pretty pointed me toward Peculiar Pair Press who (at the time) were offering 50% off. Yeah, I have my invitations 10 months in advance, but at least I won't have to pay extra to get rush delivery. And did I mention I love them? I asked a friend to film the key moments- the ceremony, beginning of the reception-- with her small digital video camera. She did a great job, and captured our day more honestly than any cheesy montage set to music and blurred by special effects. "between photography and videography I know I’m going to walk away with lasting memories and smiles for a lifetime " Honey, those smiles and memories have nothing to do with how famous your photographer/videographer is or how much you spent on them. Some of my favorite wedding photos were taken by friends and are terrible technically, but capture hilarious moments. The smiles and memories you walk away with will be because of your husband, your family, your friends. We have become so obsessed with how the day LOOKS-- how it will look in pictures and on film. We have more important things than big names to spend money on. These days, if anyone is changing their mind about major budget items, I bet it is cutting the budget, not inflating it. I hope that you find time to focus on your marriage and not just how the day looks on film. It will pay off in the long run.
