Happy weekend, EAD! Goodness, the weeks are going by so quickly. I can hardly keep up! it’s just been such a fast month, I can’t believe it’s already almost the second week of March!
We’re kind of in a dead zone as far as our planning timeline. However, we’re about to enter month 3, which is going to be very busy and PACKED with organizing and design! We’re visiting our venue next week, so be sure to check back for lots of photos and updates on that as well. With this downtime, I’ve been indulging in a guilty pleasure…inspiration boards! Here is one I did for a contest on Style Me Pretty a while back:

And here’s another I created last night, based on shades of blues and silver:

From top right: photo print from CitrusTree’s Etsy shop; escort cards from Martha Stewart; bridesmaid dress by Jim Hjelm; drink from Martha Stewart; stationary by Crane & Co., silver vases by Wedding Shoppy; silk flower from Katylua’s Etsy Shop; bride in blue dress photo by Joel Flory Photography courtesy of Brooklyn Bride; bouquet from Saipua; fabric from checkbook cover from bagladiesinpa’s Etsy shop.
Inspiration boards are one of the most helpful things you can do for your wedding design. They can aid you in organizing your inspiration, finding a clear vision, and possibly discovering new creative ways to bring your theme into your day. Creating one is simple: do a search on your favorite inspiration sites (or just use Google!) to find photos that inspire you, and put your favorites into a collage. The photos don’t even have to be wedding related: your inspiration can come from photography, a piece of art, an interior decorating idea, or even just a swatch of fabric. Get creative!
Because my wedding planning has been a bit slow this week, I’d like to offer my meager services to some possibly more busy brides! The first three respondents to this post will get a personalized inspiration board, to be posted in the coming week. Please provide me with the following information: any colors you’ve decided upon, any theme you’re incorporating, what type of venue you are utilizing, something unique about you, and anything else you’d like me to include!
I can’t wait to hear from you all and possibly help you create some beautiful inspiration. Have a wonderful rest of the weekend!

What a great offer! Our colors are kelly green and pale blue. We’re getting married at the botanic gardens. We are going with a somewhat rustic theme for our reception. Our rehearsal dinner will be at the local rodeo, where I’ve bartended for the past 5 years. I have a vast collection of cowboy boots that might make a showing at the wedding. My style is somewhat JCrew goes to the rodeo. Hope that helps!
Oh! Oh! I’d love one. For colors, all I have is sapphire blue and maybe yellow but we’re definitely thinking of an eclectic, retro feeling for a backyard AND seaside wedding. Both the color and theme were inspired by my engagement ring which was my fiance’s grandmothers’s. I’d love to see what you come up with because I’ve really made no decisions about anything other than we’re definitely having a cake buffet. Mmmm. Cake. Thanks!
I’d love one! Our colors are white, black, and turquoise. We don’t have a particular theme, but our venue is a 100-year-old building that used to be a brewery (and is now a ballroom). We’re both aerospace engineers and my fiance is a pilot so we hope to incorporate something “aerospacey” as well — in a hopefully cute but not dorky way!
I would LOVE an inspiration board. I have been trying for a couple of months to figure out how to collage pictures together, and I’m apparently technically inept on that front.
Anyway, our colors are navy blue and gray with yellow and ivory accents. We are getting married in an older, historical house that lends itself well to a casual, vintage feel. We’re getting married next January and will be serving coffee and champagne punch along with a vast array of desserts. We’re planning on incorporating books since we both love to read and mason jars and candles to give the space some more light for our evening wedding.
Thanks so much for doing this! I feel like it would really help me get a grasp on what I think the overall picture of our wedding will be.
Darn – I missed being in the first 3! Oh well, I hope you all enjoy your new boards. Briana this is very nice of you. I can’t do an inspiration board to save my life. It actually never even occurred to me until I entered the blog realm. I’m sure your help will be much appreciated buy the lucky winners.
Wow! I didn’t expect there’d be such a high demand for boards. I’m excited to give them a shot! Blue must be the new color this season…it’s everywhere!!
Lisa, I can probably fit in ONE MORE…;) If you happen to read this, let me know the info and I’ll see what I can do.
Thanks everyone! Happy planning!

Briana, this is so sweet of you! If you happen to have time one more tiny inspiration board, I really need one too. I am in a bit of an inspiration drought. My colors are mustard yellow and powder blue. We are having a mixed cultural wedding (Persian/Russian). I have had the hardest time finding cultural design inspirations.

Briana, another plea for an inspiration board!!! December wedding, formal and elegant, black/white or champagne flocked damask with dark red/crimson, green (bright or subtle?) and crystal as accents. Struggling with the use of gold/silver/black chairs. Don’t want to be too “Christmas”. And as far as elegant and formal, our Southern roots grew in Alabama Crimson Tide football soil, so we have to recognize that…luckily the team colors are crimson/white/black. We’ve found a bakery that does the “houndstooth” grooms cake!
We would love your help!
I am planning a wedding for July 2010. I’d love to use the colors my mother used in her wedding (pink and gray) but in an updated, rustic way. Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks Briana!! Our wedding is in August of this year & our colors are black & white (more like a very light silver really) with deep, rich red accent. We’d like an old Hollywood glamor feel to the reception. Maybe rat pack cocktail party kinda thing.
The venue isn’t quite booked but it looks like it will be a bar/club/restaurant with a bit of a Moroccan feel. Dark woods, dark red upholstery & candles everywhere. We don’t want anything too formal or traditional but it must be fun. I love old 40′s & 50′s pin-up are (Gil Elvgren is my fav). The 2 of us share a love of 80′s rock (total closet rockers) & we are huge hockey fans. That should be easy to incorporate right? ;)
Just in case you are feeling like doing one more… we’re getting married in September 09 at a bird sanctuary outside Washington DC. The ceremony will be outside under some trees and the reception at the 1920s mansion in the grounds. For colours I was thinking a warm plum or eggplant colour, with a champagney gold. I’m British so there will be lots of wedding hats on the female guests! My dress is a lace mermaid shape (Cassie by the French designer Cymbeline) and I love all things vintage. I’ll be DIYing the centerpieces with my mum, using candles, creamy white flowers and fruit – I am obsessed with fruit and could survive on pomegranates for weeks on end.
Hey everyone! Thanks for submitting. Ok, here’s how this is going to work: the first 3 readers’ boards will be posted tomorrow as promised. I’ll do as many as I can for Sunday, and then the rest won’t show up until around March 27th or 28th.
Again, thanks everyone. Amazing creativity going on in everyone’s palettes and themes!
Many thanks for featuring my peony hair clip on your inspiration board! In the past year, I’ve received an increasing demand from brides for my silk flower clips…magnolia blossoms and orchids in particular. I am always deeply honored when a bride calls on me to create a hair embellishment for her special day!
