Considering Wedding Bands

Quite by accident I stumbled upon the Etsy shop of Titanium Knights recently and found myself rather intrigued. Somewhat ironically, M and I were just out pricing wedding bands that same day, a special consideration because the shape of my engagement ring setting is going to require a custom band. During the course of our travels he set his sights on the lightweight and simple modern appeal of titanium. His favorite pick of the day rings in at a very affordable $195, which thrilled me to no end considering my band will be a bit more expensive as it will be custom. M is very much a no frills kind of guy. He is most comfortable in jeans and a t-shirt, he’s a former athlete turned teacher and coach, and his idea of a perfect weekend is a great dinner and a day of watching football. At any rate, an expensive gold or platinum band kind of guy he is not so the titanium route seems really perfect for his tastes.

Well, let me just say…$195 is now seeming expensive in comparison to the bands offered by Titanium Knights! They offer a really wide selection of styles, finishes and widths and no single ring in their shop is over $70. Yes, you read that correctly. Wedding bands for under $100 including shipping? Now this I must investigate further. I mean check out these gorgeous rings!

So while I love Etsy, I hadn’t really considered going the Etsy route for something as important and symbolic as a wedding band. However, I am definitely giving this option serious consideration as of right now. My only real hesitation is that the shop we’re planning to get our bands from is that of a local, independent jeweler who happens to be the uncle of one of my bridesmaids. I really love supporting local businesses whenever possible, especially when I know the owner personally and know them to be someone I would love to support with our business. No matter what he will be the guy for the job of creating my custom band, but I’d really like to give him the extra business of M’s ring because he’s just a great person. I will keep you posted on what option we decide to go with, but in the meantime I’m curious to know what everyone thinks. Is anyone else considering Etsy for the purchase of wedding band(s)?

we heart your comments!
  1. My husband and I bought second wedding bands from Titanium Knights on Etsy for travelling. TK was great to work with, fast, friendly and their work was great. I totally recommend them.

  2. My husband has a titanium ring and absolutely loves it!

Wow, I wouldn’t have thought of Etsy until now but I will definitely give it lots of thought.

    GREAT post! :)

  4. How cool! I had not even thought of Etsy for that – there’s always so many things I never think to look for there… I need to do that more often!

  5. These are amazing! Not only for the prices but they are like an art piece and not just a ring. So many men aren’t too excited about wearing jewelry but I think these will change their minds!

Fortuitous timing. My fiance Nick and I just received our wedding rings that we ordered off etsy. His is a plain sterling band from seller androscreations. Mine is a floral sterling band (seller unknown, as Nick picked it for me.)

It was a no brainer for us; neither of us wanted anything fancy, and this was one of the areas where we felt ok saving money (as opposed to say, photography.)

My vote is Etsy is great for wedding bands.

I got my titanium engagement ring on Etsy. I love it–super light weight, very shiny. We haven’t found a jeweler willing to polish it yet though. Also, there is an urban legend that titanium is so strong that EMTs would not be able to cut it off easily in case of emergency and a finger could be loss. I’ve read that for commercial grade titanium, this is a total myth, but that for aerospace grade, I couldn’t find any conclusion. I’d ask about the titanium grade in retrospect.

(The ring looks like this one, from this seller, ShadeJewelery–http://www.etsy.com/view_transaction.php?transaction_id=12982438. I’d recommend him for his exquisite craftmanship, but his communication/ability to ship promptly is an ongoing complaint in his feedback. If you want something stunning, go with him, but not if you have a deadline.)

We just got our wedding bands from Titanium Knights!! They were SUPER fast and SO helpful. We basically customized our rings and they are perfect for us. I am so happy that we not only got VERY reasonably priced wedding bands that we love, but also that we supported another married couple who owns their very own small business! I certainly recommend it!

  9. These wedding bands are so modern and beautiful!

  10. I just ordered my wedding band in an Etsy seller singleBbeautiful!

It’s recycled white-gold with conflict-free diamonds for only about $300! Great! I highly recommend her!

I was just looking at Titanium Knights too!

  11. I bought my fiance’s wedding band from TK and we were both so impressed with the band once it arrived. We had a great shopping experience with TK. The ring arrived quickly which is always a bonus as we live in Alaska. I’ve had wonderful experiences with every Etsy vendor I’ve ordered from. I check out Etsy on a daily basis for wedding supplies and everything else.

Great post!! I’ve been getting everything else wedding-related from Etsy why not our rings?! Price is always a concern but I just love saying things are “handmade” and “custom” when people admire an Etsy purchase :)
