Ger & I are the type of people who appreciate and welcome understated elegance. When we discussed getting married we knew that we weren’t the flashy type and didn’t want the proposal to be anything near over the top.
Our story began at a little store called Tiffany’s. We didn’t plan on buying the ring together but I had found the most perfect one and we couldn’t let it go. Everyone working at Tiffany’s made it such an amazing experience that day. When we made the decision to get the ring, they took us into their private room, poured us champagne, took photos, gifted us chocolate truffles and did a send off with their congratulations. What a perfect way to celebrate!
I knew the engagement was right around the corner but I didn’t know when. I was on pins and needles for weeks!
I got a call from Ger one day at work and was asked to come home from work early that day. I was nervous the entire way home and suspected that he was about to propose. When I arrived home, I had walked into a serene candlelit apartment. He had the room covered in tea lights. The only light that was shown was the glow from the Christmas tree.
In the background he had “Christmas Time is Here” by Vince Guaraldi Trio- better known from the Charlie Brown Christmas, playing. The soft glimmer from the glowing candles and the sound of the music coming from the brushes touching the drum, made the night just perfect.
Among an already extraordinary evening, Ger presented me with my little blue box. The most delicate little thing that I barely wanted to wanted to touch. It was the most perfect ring I have ever seen (The Tiffany Novo.) The diamonds continued to shine all evening.
The night didn’t end there. Ger had made reservations at L’Espalier, the Top French Restaurant in Boston.
The service was extraordinary and the food was divine.
It was the perfect way to end the night and a perfect way to start our life together.
What made your proposal perfect for you?

My proposal was perfect b/c it was quiet, at home, just me and him… i think it was a good reflection of our relationship :)

@AmyJean- I think those proposals are the most romantic and mean so much! :)
@Elizabeth- Haha- No! But He DOES look a bit like him! I’ll pass the message on to him, I’m sure he’ll appreciate it!
@Tiffany- You have no idea…I am a very down to earth eater (macaroni & cheese, burgers, etc…I couldn’t eat half the food they served me- I was STARVING!!)

That is so completely romantic. I think most guys (mine included) worry so much about surprising their fiance. But how perfect that you got to enjoy those butterflies beforehand. The food at L’Espalier is supposed to be amazing. I would settle for small portions if indeed it is. We will have to talk more. :)

That’s an amazing story. Congratulations! My engagement was quite funny because I almost manage to ruin it. But it turned out perfect in the end and it is very us too.

We got engaged at the top of the Eiffel Tower on our 6 year anniversary. My ring isn’t from Tiffany & Co. but it’s a replica of the Lucida and my fiance propose with an engraving on a Tiffan & Co. bracelet :-)
