Reader Dilemma: Suggestions For a Color Scheme

Michelle writes in to ask for some input and ideas for her amazing color scheme:

I am thinking of having a platinum/pewter gray and blush pink wedding….pearls, lace, peonies and ostrich feathers (probably white or cream feathers).  Any suggestions?

  1. I think it’s an amazing idea…maybe put a board together so we can see what it looks like. Very elegant and cool I bet!

Here are some ideas that aren’t quite perfect but I’m sure you can get elements from it!

  3. Oh how perfect. Those colours together are stunning. To me the perfect inspiration for a delicate, beautiful event like that is peonies’ photos on etsy (seller peoniesandpolaroids, same lady as the photo of the cake stand); you could have candelabras draped with pearls, dusky pink linen and soft candle light. I’m jealous of the wonderful possibilities! :p

also- what program do you make these boards in? i would like to take a stab at my own!

  10. This is what we’re doing, too, for our color scheme. Michelle, for centerpieces we’ve been collecting old silverplate coffeepot sets (coffeepots, creamers, sugars, etc.). If they’re tarnished, that’s ok! We’re going to give them to our florist, who will arrange the soft pink/cream flowers directly in them. Let me know if you have any more questions!

this is what i was thinking of too and including bits of feathers…..i saw the idea on a website!

We’re having antique silver candlesticks as our centrepieces, in collections of 3 or 4, with faux pearls draped over them/around them.. could work nicely with your theme.

  13. I love feathers and we’re using them all over our reception decor. Mainly they will be used instead of flowers on our high cocktail tables, in groups of one or two in a bud vase. Also we’re going to stick one or two in some of the simple floral arrangements (peonies, garden roses, etc.). The inspiration boards are lovely and full of great ideas.

    JLS:
Where are you finding your silverplate coffee sets? I am about to begin my hunt for them as well! Any guidance would be helpful
