And the Bride wore…champagne?
Let me start off by saying (if you haven’t already gathered) I am not a traditional girl. I don’t like to do things the “normal” way most of the time.
So obviously my wedding wasn’t going to be any different.
See, I didn’t want poof when it came to my dress. I didn’t want anything I’d have to carry around, and I most CERTAINLY didn’t want to look like anything that remotely resembled a princess. eek.
I fell in love with Jessica. Ah, Jessica. Modern Trousseau’s Jessica. Here she is:

The lace? The capped sleeves? The lack of poof? I loved her. Sadly- I didn’t love her price tag. Being a practical gal I just couldn’t justify spending money like that on a dress. SO-the hunt began. I was determined to have someone make me the dress for a good price, and I had found a few seamstresses via craigslist that I felt good about. Then one day it happened. I was driving by a used bridal shop near my house. A little voice whispered in my ear, “just go in and look”
and I did.
And I found it. Oh, it was gorgeous. I saw her on the hanger and I just knew she was the one. Lace? Capped sleeves? CHECK and CHECK!
The price was right. Oh man, was the price right. I took her home that day, and haven’t looked back. I still love Jessica and her white lace, but my dress is so much more “me”. She has character-and well, I’ve been told I do too. Here is a picture of the dress on the model. It looks much different in person, but you get the idea-oh and the sleeves will be higher up when I wear it:

I just love the sash and I love the lace. I absolutely love the champagne color-and in person it is much more noticeable.
I will be wearing these boots:

I just can’t wait to run around on the farm with my dress, those boots-and that wonderful amazing man-of-mine.
Any of you fine ladies out there doing something less traditional when it comes to your wedding day attire?

a girls after my own heart!! LOVE the dress – LOVE the boots – and LOVE LOVE not paying a designer price!!
It’s gorgeous!
you are my kind of lady. i too will be wearing a champagne colored, non-poofy dress! i was waiting and waiting for someone to re-affirm my color! i was nervous for a while! and the boots! i am so nervous to pull off the boots with the dress. you can check out my engagment shoot at our house…. boots will never go out of style!
you are my kind of lady! i too opted for the “non-taditional” champagne colored, non-poofy dress! i have been very nervous about it, but am so glad someone re-affirmed my belief in the color! and the boots! i love the boots! check out the great job my photographer did with our engaement shoot and my love of boots! http://meganwblog.com/daniel-lindsey-engagement/
It’s like you’re reading my mind! I haven’t been able to find a lace dress that fits in my budget (I fell in love with a Jim Hjelm from 3 years ago and, of course, the Monique Lhuillier Scarlet – WAAAAY out of my price range!), but I am also anti-poof and anti-carrying-the-dress-around and all the dresses I’ve liked are off-white/champagne/candlelight colored. And I’m wearing boots!

LOVE it, especially the boots! I am definitely a cowboy-boot-wearing-outdoorsy-type girl and I was looking for the same things in my dress. There’s something sweet about form-fitting lace that just says “country.” I’m being married outside and I’m torn between trying to find cute colorful heels for my dress or boots!
Love everything about everything! Boots… lace… it all sounds oddly familiar. LOVE!!
I am wearing a lace non-poofy dress from casablanca and wearing similar cowboy boots! the groom, groomsmen, and all my bridesmaids will be wearing cowboy boots too. its an outdoor farm wedding and we wear my fiance and i wear boots all the time anyways so we thought it would be fitting!

I cant find a picture of my boots but they are a grayish color with python! They are made my Corral too though.
That dress is to die for! Gorgeous!
Lovely! I applaud your choices! And with the boots, this will definitely have character!
My dress is my mother’s from the late 70’s. I’ve had it reworked to fit me, and it’s everything I’ve dreamed of. Not a princess, no poof, and no beads. And it’s a nice eggshell to top it off!
Here’s to doing what you want!
Heart! I love your dress! It is simply beautiful. I love the way it drapes around the bottom. I think I’ll be pulling out the boots for our reception…I can’t wait! Looking forward to hearing more about your plans!

I just LOVE that dress with the lace and the sash – definitely something I’ve been looking at. And good for you for finding it at a great price! Bargain shopping – and finding that perfect bargain find is always so amazing .
Love it! I’m also going to be wearing a distinctly non-poufy, champagne dress for my wedding, although I’ll be rocking red shoes instead of boots. Nice to know other people are going the non-princess route too!
Madame Trousseau is one of two designers that I found out about AFTER I had decided on a dress. Luckily, as much as I liked both designers, I didn’t like their price tags, so my dress is safe from being tossed aside. I love your Jessica inspiration, and love that you are able to feel like you on your wedding day.
I am also wearing a champagne colored, non-poofy dress. And it was on sale! Yay for non-traditional!
LOVE IT!!!!!!! I’m looking for champagne boots myself….Great minds seem to think alike……. God luck and happy planning…
ahh yes another bride like me!! my dress looks a lot like yours lol and i am wearing my slouchy cowboy boots, and the BM too!
