Classical Gas is your wedding song?
Yeah, you read right. The song I’m walking down the aisle to is Classical Gas. Have any of you seen the movie, “Story of Us“? It’s amazing, and I think anyone in a relationship should see it. There is a scene where Michelle Pfeiffer is remembering a montage of her marriage to Bruce Willis-the song that plays during this is Classical Gas. Go ahead and watch the video…The song and the scene I’m talking about is from 1:20-1:30. I’ll be here when you get back…GO!
SEE?!!? Amazing, right??
Well, Vince plays guitar. Very well. When we fell in love he had just learned to play that song and he would play it for me over and over. I fell in love with him over that song and it means so much to both of us. The movie means a lot to us, and then the song.
Because of this we had always said that it is the song I would walk down the aisle to. There are no words to the song, but it’s absolutely beautiful and I cannot hear it without thinking of us, our love and our future.
We will have a friend play it on the guitar as I walk down towards him. I absolutely cannot wait for that moment-when it will feel like we are the only two people in the world, and all I want is to walk towards him and marry him. Ah, it’s going to be great.
While we’re on ceremony music, I’ll go ahead and tell you the other song we are using. It’s the Jason Mraz, Colbie Calliat song-Lucky. If you haven’t heard it-you should go listen to it now.
Wow, we sure are spending a lot of time apart in this post, aren’t we?! What did you think? Yeah, I love it too.
In addition to music we are also writing our own vows. Which is a topic I don’t want to discuss because I don’t know where to begin with them! I have so much to say and I’m afraid they are going to end up being 30 minutes long! Vince’s Dad is marrying us, so he will be saying some sweet things, and then my Mom is going to do the hand blessing for us, which I’m so excited about. I could go on for days about music we are using for the rest of the wedding, but I’ll save it for another post.
I cannot believe we are going to be standing there in…
YAY!
Any of you lovely brides out there using some non traditional wedding songs for your ceremony?

I love the story behind your song! I also did a non-traditional song. I had always seen myself walking down the aisle to a string version of “Glycerine” by Bush, but that version wasn’t available. So I went with a string quartet version of No Doubt’s “Underneath It All” which reminded me of my husband and I’s relationship early on. All the family and wedding party walked down the LONG aisle to that, and it was so perfect! Very beautiful and I loved that it was different than everyone elses!

Loved the clip! Never would have thought of Classical Gas, but it is beautiful, really.
We’re using Iron & Wine “Love and Some Verses” for the processional. Can’t wait!!
Love your songs! I definitely need to sit down with my fiance and watch “Story of Us.”
We’re using “We are Man and Wife” by Michelle Featherson for our ceremony. More about our picks in an upcoming post!

“Our Song” that we want to dance our first dance to is Stickshifts and Safety Belts by Cake . . . it is a really cute song, but very much not a traditional first dance song . . . especially since it is so fast. Now, if only either of us knew how to dance to it!!
what a special story!
