I got married almost 2 years ago, but somehow find myself very enthralled with wedding details, still. :)
We had a family friend make our cakes and I made the cake stands. I had three separate cakes--at three different heights. What I did was went to Goodwill and found all sizes of glass platters. I then found glass candle stick holders and used clear adhesive glue and put them together! I then ended up with unique and CLASSY cake stands...all for about $3-$4 EACH!

Elizabeth, that's a great idea! I had more of a pedestal in mind, but the cute knobs might sway me your direction!

I found a great article in Martha Stewart weddings about making your own cake base using knobs (like for a chest of drawers...think about Anthro's knobs!) as the feet and a round cut table top piece from a hardware store. Paint the wood and line the edges of base with ribbon that matches your theme... This will my fiance's hand-made bit of our wedding! :)

Elizabeth’s most recent blog post: Here comes the wedding!
