Help Me Decide! Wedding Gown Accessories

Last week I revealed my wedding dress, now I need your input into which accessories I should add to jazz up the dress!

(Please note that these photos were Photo Shopped and I haven’t tried the wrap or sash on in person yet)

Here is a possible ensemble.  I like how it has a kind of Asian flare with the use of a paper parasol for the photos.  What do you think, is it too much?

As mentioned in a previous post over at Peaches by Plums, I found this amazing Wrap here (Bonzie is great!!) and found the great feather hair piece also on Etsy, here.

Right now I’m debating on the color Wrap I want and what looks best with my skin tone.  Please help! Here are the options!

(purple)

(deep teal)

(red)

Picture 12

(green)

Picture 2

(pink)

I believe the Wrap from Bonzie only comes in teal, green and red but I wanted to get your opinion on a variety of colors.

The next question is…should I wear a sash with the dress (color would match the wrap) or just keep it simple?

(with sash)

or again…

(without sash)

After the results are in, I will be sure to share with you my favorite combination!

we heart your comments!

I say the green is a nice choice and the sash is fun also!! Why not be different, that way if you decide to loose the jacket at some point you still have that flair of color!

I think the warmer colors look the best with your skin tone, particularly the purple. As a bystander, I think the dress is exquisite alone without adding a sash. Since it does have the tiered look going on, the sash almost detracts a bit from the dress. Mind you, whoichever you choose will be gorgeous, but the dress in itself is just stunning.

The Asian flare is cute, I dont think it will be overkill.

  3. i like the red best on you, but it’s hard to tell without real sunlight. the sash doesn’t look bad, but i can’t tell if it makes it too busy or not (with all the horizontal details of the dress and then adding the jacket in)
but worst case scenario is you get all the things you want and make last minute decisions that morning… that’s what your helpers are there for : )

I think that first combo with everything is too much — if you want to keep the parasol, i think it would look nice with the sash, but not the shrug. As far as colors, I always love a good deep red like the one you’ve got. And I do like the sash with it!

  5. Red or pink with sash (I know, I know, no pink sash). I think the sash is needed to tie it together otherwise it looks a little out of place with this big bold color/shape on top. Warm colors look great on you!

Omgosh, I just realized that ever comment is really different…I’m sure what ever you do, you’ll look great!

  6. Deep teal is my choice. I think it’ll “pop” nicely in photos.

  7. I love your photoshopped photos! :)
As for the color…I kind of like it without the sash, but I definitely love that you’re adding bold color with the wrap!

…and don’t ask me about color choices–I’m no good at that sort of thing…

    Best Wishes!

Another suggestion, which hopefully won’t confuse you even more… I checked back at Etsy and saw that they also have this simple wrap: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=24399400 I don’t know, if the color matches your dress. However, this wrap with a sash and parasol in whatever color you like (and maybe matches your bouquet) would be my suggestion. Otherwise I personally think it’s a little bit too much and from first sight I couldn’t decide on a color. Follow your intuition and you will look gorgeous! For sure… :o)

  9. One simple rule. Less is more.

I think the warmer colours look better on you, and I especially love the red. Don’t think you need the sash, your dress is stunning without it, might be a bit too much? ADORE the parasol! You’ll look beautiful whatever you pick!

  11. love the red! if you are undecided about the sash/jacket combo, you could split them up and wear the jacket during the ceremony and the sash during the reception. i think you need a sassy garter to match whatever color you choose – http://www.juliannsmith.com :)

I would go with pink or red, and I’m in the no sash camp. I think the shrug is already so decorative that you don’t need another element in the outfit, especially with the feather clip.

But it looks great! I love love love colors that pop.

Goin out on a limb here…I prefer the green, no sash! Bam! ;) I think it’s a pretty color on you and not as overwhelming as the others. The other pictures, my eye is drawn to the dress first instead of you…and you definitely want the attention to be on YOU!!!

  14. what about the sash and NO wrap? That would be my vote :)

I am not a fan of the paper parasol but would definitely go with the red wrap and matching sash. Both work well with your skin tone and the dress. Good luck, regardless of what you decide, you will look stunning on your wedding day!

  16. I also like the red or the pink and I think you’ll probably get enough of a pop with color of your flowers or parasol…I feel like too much color will take away from such a beautiful dress!

  17. oooh, loving the shrug. i love the red the best, and in the no sash camp!

    Hello,
I don’t like the sash…I think it’s too bridesmaidish and you’re dress is already so pretty I think it would clutter it. The shrug is cool. I like red or teal.

Don’t wear anything… It takes away from the simplicity and elegance of your dress!

  21. Hi Abby,
The dress is definitely you…not those other ones!! I’m partial to red and you will look grand in it with your coloring.

  22. sarah writes... {May 19, 2009 at 9:51 pm}

I think you will regret the accessories. Great dress…but you may find the add-ons to be eye sores in the future when trends change.

I think the red looks best on you but I might be a tad bit biased because red’s my favourite colour and would most certainly use it for my own wedding too haha. The dress is gorgeous by itself and I agree, the sash would disturb the intricate layering on the dress. However, I totally love the asian flare with the parasol. I’m very into paper parasols and having a touch of asia myself and I’d say, go for it! :)

  24. Red wrap with red sash! LOVE the look!!!
