Stationery Friday! Lovely, lovely woodgrain

The past week or so has been a sort of unintentional woodgrain week over at Oh So Beautiful Paper – all starting with these DIY woodgrain save the dates.  Although woodgrain (also referred to as faux bois) has been popping up in weddings over the past few years, it really seems to be picking up steam as a trend – particularly in wedding stationery – this year.

In case you’re not familiar with the woodgrain trend, I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite examples to share with you.  Some choose to incorporate the woodgrain texture into their invitations or save the dates by using a blind stamp (no ink) letterpress impression or embossed paper, like these:

Others choose to incorporate the bold faux bois pattern into the invitation design, like these:

So what do you think?  Do you like the use of woodgrain textures or faux bois patterns in wedding stationery?  Are any of you planning to use something similar for your wedding?

Also, you may have noticed that I’m posting on Friday, instead of my usual Thursday – and the reason for the delay is that I’ve been getting ready for a HUGE giveaway over on Oh So Beautiful Paper!  I’m absolutely thrilled to be giving away 150 letterpress save the dates from Delphine Press and Mohawk Paper – the contest just started this morning and runs until Friday, July 3, so I hope you’ll stop by to enter the contest!

we heart your comments!
  1. I absolutely love the wooden grain look! Since I’m making my own invites though I don’t know how I would pull it off. FI and I are getting married in a forest setting area with lots of pine trees so I think the look would go beautifully….maybe I need to see what I can do for the look on my own invites!

  2. I am also a wedding stationary and favors designer, and i LOVE yr blog
