Stationery Friday! Lovely, lovely woodgrain

Posted 06/26/2009 by Nole in inspiration, stationery \ 3 comments

The past week or so has been a sort of unintentional woodgrain week over at Oh So Beautiful Paper – all starting with these DIY woodgrain save the dates.  Although woodgrain (also referred to as faux bois) has been popping up in weddings over the past few years, it really seems to be picking up steam as a trend – …

A Sweet Occasion – My Bridal Shower!

In early May, my bridesmaids hosted an incredible bridal shower for me. While I’ve been getting increasingly more excited for the wedding in recent months, excitement really started to mount with the shower the girls hosted for me and all of my family and friends. They put so much effort into making it a wonderful day and it truly was …

I am just loving these engagement photos taken in San Francisco by Steve Koo, a fabulous Chicago-based photographer.  Amanda and Matt are marrying in Chicago but reside in San Francisco and wanted their engagement photos to reflect their home.

I had a birthday over the weekend. Maid of Honor Katie took me (with my mom and DJ) to Ravinia to see Pink Martini and Michael Feinstein.

The menu was incredible.
-Dark and Stormies (dark rum + ginger beer + lime wedge over ice: all to taste)
-Cocktail Caprese bites (basil + mozzarella + cherry tomato)
-Veggie bites (on toothpicks, to dip in hummus)
-Roasted …

Partners on the Road (and in Life)

I know it was my idea because it’s something I’ve always wanted to do. “Let’s run a half marathon before we get married,” I suggested to Nick. I can’t say it was met with incredible enthusiasm. Nick ran the Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon in Virginia Beach a few years ago, and when he completed it, he told himself he …

Not as bad as it sounds, though there could be an endless number of would you rathers for weddings. This one is about what you would rather have thrown at you when you leave.

Mia and Manuel

This website outlines some of the pros and cons of the basics: birdseed, bubbles, rice, sparklers, flower petals, confetti. It says that the tradition started …

Real Weddings: Joe + Mandy

Real Weddings: Joe + Mandy

While I am in the middle of planning our wedding for October, I am also a full time wedding planner.  To be honest, I get much more excitement and joy out of planning for other brides than I do planning my own wedding!  I think it’s because I don’t get stressed when it’s someone else’s wedding.  I am much more …

First Go at an Inspiration Board

Posted 06/23/2009 by Kasia in inspiration \ 1 comment

So I finally made some time last night to organize the gazillion and jazillion pictures of inspiration I’ve saved to my desktop (inspired by hitting the 1 year mark till the big day).  While I was at it,  I made my first inspiration board.  As I’ve mentioned, the wedding style will be chic, simple and reflective of our venue – this …

That’s MRS dr. dave to you!

Posted 06/23/2009 by Briana in photography \ 15 comments

Dr. dave and I were married last Saturday amidst lots and lots of Colorado rain (and it’s very uncharacteristic for it to rain for more than 5 minutes at a time in Denver!).  We had an amazing wedding, filled with our fantastic families and close friends.  A handful of things went wrong: we had to move the ceremony indoors, we …
