While sometimes not having a choice can be seen as a burden, it can also take a lot of the stress of buying a dress, having to return it, find a new one, etc! If I was a bridesmaid who could pick her own dress, I'd be so nervous about getting a dress that the bride liked or a dress that was "nice enough" for the wedding that I would probably drive myself crazy!
