It also matches his green sweater! If you do the necklace, it's definitely going to make the biggest fashion statement, so I'd tone down all the other accessories to go with it. I wouldn't do a big/chunky necklace because my neck's pretty slim & chunky necklaces just make it look too overloaded if you know what I mean.
