Thought of you tonight while driving home. The moon was this beautiful creamy-amber color against a midnight navy blue. Definitely very fall like!

What if you used colors like harvest yellow or harvest orange? Think like trees changing, pumpkins, indian corn...those types of colors. I like the idea of navy with mushroom and then adding those harvesty pops of colors in the bouquets, centerpieces, table decor, table runners/tablecloths, napkin rings, votives/candles or candle holders, favor packaging, bridesmaid jewelry. I feel like you could use these colors but keeping them still in a lighter shade so it doesn't get too dreary. Haha, I'm sure if you check out the JCrew catalogue they'll have some good fall colors :)

I think the deep red combination is the best. It looks like fall colours and looks nice and, if your mother is wearing that colour is perfect!!!

Wow! What a great response - it's sooo good to get some other view points (besides the ones in my head!). Here are my thoughts on your comments:

@Jamie - i definitely see what you're saying about possibly getting too dreary with so many dark colors - I should mention that (right now) I'm planning to have mostly white flowers with pops of navy... hopefully that will lighten things up a bit

@Megan, @Kelli, @Kate - I love the navy and red/orange, too, but do you think it's too obvious? I'm not sure where to bring it in so that it's not so forced (i.e. screaming "hello, it's Fall!!")... does that make any sense?

@Kate M. - I love the idea of using jewel tones (think of the possibilities!), but I'm pretty sure Brian will think it's a bit too girlie... I mean, he's on the fence about red...

@Kimmy - we are doing navy and mushroom for sure, which I love. those are going to be the main colors (especially since they are the only ones we can agree on!) and we're (well, I am) thinking of adding pops of color elsewhere, which is really where I'm struggling most! Where do you add in these pops??

More food for thought out there: As I said, I'm planning to do white flowers for everyone (all white for me, white with privet - navy - berries for the girls), but perhaps I could add some pops of red or orange (or both?) to the girls' bouquets? Hmm... any other places for good color pops?

Oh, and I think yellow definitely reads summer, the brighter/ligher pinks draw away from the navy and take over a bit too much, but the darker rustier red is nice and fall. Orange is nice too.

Here is a board someone made that is orange, navy and redish... very fall.

Hey, I immediately though grey would be a lovely elegant complement to the navy. I personally LOVE grey and taupe together (http://www.elizabethannedesigns.com/blog/2009/06/08/glamorous-gray/)
and think navy would go great with that. It's kind of wintery, but not in a winter wonderland kind of way. It's warm, rich, and elegant.

Otherwise i'm really a huge fan of the navy/olive/slate board. I think it's also beautiful for fall.
