I had a heart attack and then learned to live with mine ($150 for the bustle), which I have since learned is not so bad. If you know anyone who was happy with their alterations, that's your best bet. It's not necessarily that you get what you pay for, just make sure they've done it well before! Alterations are all over the place. They hemmed mine 2 inches too short & you can't grow back tulle. However, they were really cheap (about $185 for all alterations). But you get what you pay for.
