Posted 10/27/2009 by Emily in ceremony and reception \ 1 comment

We designed a ceremony that addressed what is most important to us in a successful marriage. It’s a union of ourselves and our families. It’s a promise to passionately and considerately love one another. It’s about sacrifice and compromise. And it’s finding comfort and completion in one another.

Downtown Chicago Engagement Photos

Bryce and Coady’s engagement session is special to me for a few reasons. First, I know the groom-to-be Bryce. He is such a smart and fun guy and these photos express his personality so well. Second, Amy from Angela Anderson Photography is just SO talented. And lastly, I just adore how my city is shown off …

It’s very exciting, as things should be faster around here. :) I have two engagement sessions to post today and they are both fabulous (even if they are late)!

The first comes …

Real Weddings: Caroline + Edward

Posted 10/23/2009 by Ami in beach weddings, real weddings \ 11 comments

I love love love today’s Chicago wedding, photographed by Laurie Peacock. Yes, I’m biased, since I think my city is just phenomenal, but Caroline and Edward’s wedding is too wonderful not to love. There was an elegant simplicity to the entire event, held at the 63rd Street Beach House, and the ocean-inspired floral designs by Allison Denny at Stems …

Real Weddings: Kristen + Matt

Every now and then I come across a wedding that is not only drop-dead gorgeous, but it’s so creative it warms my soul. That’s Kristen and Matt’s wedding. Kristen, an art director for a cosmetics company, created the entire event herself from start to finish, and the result, photographed by the talented and sweet Daisy Varley, was absolute …

Ger & I share a love of traveling to new places. When deciding where we were going to go for our honeymoon many different locations came up. Do we go around to a few different European countries, somewhere tropical to relax on the beach or perhaps a totally unique experience?

We have always wanted to go to Japan and …

Things Will Go Wrong… Cake Edition

(photo by my sister, ashley merrill, while frosting cakes in a kitchen that reminded her of the shining)

Things didn’t go according to plan with our wedding. I feel/felt like it was a huge fail on my part, not dealing with stress well and not delegating or getting things done ahead of time. I’m a huge procrastinator and I also was …

Real Weddings: Mike + Erika

Mike and Erika’s San Juan Capistrano wedding, much like Erika’s bridal shower, is all about classic romance and lots of pink!  Sandra Pan of Sandra P Photography did such a wonderful job capturing all of the details.

Rancho Capistrano is such a gorgeous venue, and Flower Allie‘s work is always top-notch.  Soft pink chiffon Jenny Yoo bridesmaids dresses are highlighted by …
