We are both the least favorites of our parents’ children. My dowry and his inheritance have been squandered on our siblings. :)

Hi! This would be a fabulous treat for our wedding. My fiance is still a PhD cancer research student (graduating just before our wedding in April) and I just graduated this past May from grad school. We’re both paying for the wedding ourselves and saving like crazy for the 125 guests coming from Chicago, England and India to California! I love love love the Paprika collection! Not only does the name and color remind me of our Indian heritage, but the smell gives me the joy of our times cooking on the weekends when we get to see each other. The design is beautiful and would fit well for our Indian rustic garden wedding!
Letterpress has always been a dream invitation for me - never a reality. I love the feel of the paper and the way that letterpress makes simple designs luxurious and elegant. Letterpress reminds me of the utterly chic woman with a simple, but perfectly fit little black dress.
My reason for not being able to afford it is rather embarassing. My father announced this weekend that he wasn’t going to help pay for my wedding, about 6 months out from my “big day” because he doesn’t want to anger my mother who doesn’t like me. I am helping to support my fiance while he’s in school after getting laid off. We were thinking of putting off the wedding, but are going to go along with our “shoebox” wedding as we call it. We figure that even if we have to serve hamburgers and hotdogs, the start of our marriage will make the day wonderful regardless.
These are the coolest looking STD and invites I’ve seen! So unique and SO “me & future hubby”! We’ve had to postpone our wedding in order to save up for a home (we don’t live together). This little gift would go a long way for us! Thanks!

My fiancé and I have talked about how much we love the look of Letterpress - we even considered taking some Letterpress classes as a “couples activity,” thinking we could play around with invitations. That didn’t work out, but we’re keeping it in mind for the future. In the meantime, we’re still trying to figure out what to do with our invitations.

my fiance and i are huge fans of letterpress. however, a set of lp invitations would probably cost more than our whole wedding. i just finished my M.Ed. and teaching license, and there are absolutely no jobs, so i’m working part-time in a school for a low hourly wage. his hours keep getting cut at work, and we’re just scraping by financially. neither of our parents are contributing to our wedding, and we’ve had to downgrade our plans several times - and this is from an extremely DIY, low-budget beginning plan! Right now we’re looking at a ceremony in a public park, and a punch and cake reception in a friend’s backyard. we’d really appreciate something awesome like letterpress - it would feel like a “splurge”, without the related financial doom it would bring!

My fiancee and I LOVE letter press. It is the only printing style that can capture the whimsy and uniqueness that is embodied both in our relationship and in our wedding.
So why can’t we afford it? Well, it all starts with the budget, of course. Which is small. Very small. The fact that we are getting married in Chicago (where we live now and where said fiancee grew up) means that the budget cannot be stretched. By Chicago ordinance, all wedding budgets are subject to a mandatory inconvenience tax. :/ We’ve done everything to make it go as far as we can. We had a friend’s dad “call in a favor” to our caterer who happens to just be a hot dog stand guy (our wedding = labor day bbq). I’m making my dress and all of the bridesmaid dresses. We are using green as our primary wedding color so that we can use leaves, grass, and anything else that occurs in nature, free of charge, so that the lack of flowers wont be so apparent. In short, we can’t afford it for the same reason everyone else can’t: because weddings are stupid expensive. We’re in love! Give us a break! (:

We would love to win this generous giveaway! We are newly engaged and thinking of going the DIY route for our invitations. I am still in school, and even though my fiance and I both have jobs we are paying towards his student loans and trying to get out of debt before our wedding so we can focus on paying for our wedding debt free and of course, purchasing our first home soon after. With so much saving there isn’t much room in out tight budget for beautiful letterpress invitations! Our favorite is the Blue Surf! We are having a seaside ceremony and reception so this invitation suits us perfectly.
I have drooled over letterpress for what feels like ages, and now that I get to plan my own wedding, the reality of the cost of these beauties has hit me hard. I really don’t want to give up on them, and to be honest, I’ve even looked into taking a letterpress workshop. But something tells me that I wouldn’t be as skilled as I would need to be.
The look of letterpress; the texture, the weight, and the design are what get me. It would be a perfect way to help us balance the casual feel of our wedding with the elegance that it deserves. We are trying to plan a sophisticated military wedding, that has a classy and laid back coastal New England feel.
I am going to move to him after we marry, which is putting a huge financial strain on our tiny budget. Winning this prize would be a huge relief to us.
My favorite of these beautiful designs is the elegant “Filigree Three” design… and I adore letterpress invitations! They are stylish, with an old-fashioned, vintage feel, yet up-to-date.
The reason we could never afford these for our wedding… we are both going back to school; my fiance’ after losing his job almost a year ago and not being able to find a job since; and I’ve been back in nursing school and will graduate in just over 1 year. I lost my job about a month ago too, a minimum wage job that thought I should put them over my nursing school clinicals… we are surviving on his small amount of unemployment. I don’t live with him but stay with a wonderful older lady. We are not waiting till after graduation to marry because I don’t want to wear out my welcome with this wonderful lady who lets my son & I stay with her, but I’m not moving in with my fiance’ until we are married.
Anyway… we have both been married before and are paying for this wedding ourselves. We both feel it is very important to start off right by having a “real” church wedding, which neither of us did before, and are doing everything ourselves that we can. We are paying for the wedding out of student loans, and the entire budget is $1000.
I was planning to make our invitations by printing them out on the computer because we can’t even afford the cheapest invitations, but I can just imagine… having these beautiful, gorgeous invitations would be a wonderful gift to start our wedding planning off with! All of the other wonderful brides on here deserve these too, so I won’t be resentful or anything if we don’t win… they will go to someone who otherwise could never afford them!
Our wedding is set for March 13, 2010 (working around both of our school schedules!). Good luck to everyone on here with your weddings, I know what it’s like!
My major in college was in printing, but sadly printing majors don’t really make enough money to afford letterpress invitations for their weddings. My dad got sick earlier this year and my parents wound up wiping out their savings to pay off medical bills, so my fiancé and I are paying for our entire wedding ourselves. We had to cut corners and sadly invitations was one of the areas that took a hit.
For me (and us) invitations are one of the most important aspects of a wedding. They are the first thing that guests see and helps to set the mood for the wedding. It might have been the fact that my major that I consider letterpress the best of the best. It is elegant, classic, and beautiful… it just costs a lot more than a desktop printer. :-(

The Bubbling Brooke is absolutely gorgeous and would be so perfect for us. I have always been a huge fan of letterpress (even volunteering in a few shops) but sadly it is so far out of the budget. My fiance and I are paying for the wedding ourselves and simply cannot afford to spend much money. My fiance likes to joke that although I come with a sparkling personality, I also come with a huge amount of graduate school loans!
Letterpress invitations have the extra touch of elegance and class with a vintage edge. It reminds me of style icons of the past like Audrey Hepburn… or like Jackie O…
Sadly, I feel in love with the letterpress invitations after we decided on the budget for individuals items. I have not found any letterpress invitiations that are within reach of our spending limit…
I can hope… I can dream… and I guess roll the dice.
Why I love letterpress… you should have given us a word limit. Paper is one of my absolute favorite things. I have stationary from every country, city, small store in my home town I’ve visited and I absolutely love using it! I love finding letters in my mail and nothing rivals sending them out to friends and family. That’s why I knew, even without the $$, I had to personalize my wedding stationary. I’m taking a gocco class from an artist in Portland, OR next weekend (note – it’s a total bargain to get her help) and keeping my fingers crossed that the designs I’ve spent months sketching translate into good printing screens. The save the dates are pretty simple – I’ve collected the things I think best represent my fiancé and I and turned them into line drawings. With that project nearing completion, I’m already looking forward to creating the invitation suite and am pining away at the chance to win a set of 75 letterpressed ones! I adore beautiful, thoughtful stationary and love that it can transform a mass printed invite into something personal, that our guests will treasure and will (undoubtedly) lead them to checking ‘accepts with pleasure’ on the RSVP card! It would mean so much to win this contest and really help with our bottom line. Thank you for allowing us to dream, it’s a great contest. Don’t Press Me has some really inspiring designs, I love the way she used fonts to define different parts of the invite.
Well, this is amazing. The Peony Park Suite is exactly how I have always dreamed my invitations would look. There is something so sumptuous about letterpress. The feel in your hand, the distinct look, the richness. I doubt there will be a time in my life when I will have another oportunity to send something so elegant and timeless to my loved ones.
For all of the details of our wedding we have tried to stick to the same feeling of relaxed elegance. This is not so easy to do when you buy your invitations at Target! But that is what we have been attempting. When looking at our overall budget we had to make a tough choice between stunning invites or stunning florals. Unfortunately for this art teacher, and lover of all things paper, we opted for the florals as our reception site is fairly sparce and needs the extra love. It would be a dream to win this contest. It is so true that invitations set the mood for your big day, and I would love to express relaxed elegance to all of our guests with an invitation set from Don’t Press Me.
Thanks for the opportunity!
Since I was a little girl, I’ve always wanted to get married barefoot on the beach (I used to say in a white bikini, but boy, has that changed!). Come to find out, now at 25, carrying out such a simple concept isn’t quite so simple - or inexpensive! My fiance just got his first English teaching job and we both love books, fonts, words, and the like. I love letterpress. We want a small ceremony that envelopes both a beachy feel and a casual elegance; it’s mostly going to be DIY, which is great, but sometimes hard to capture and execute the complete vision. Letterpress would add such a touch of sophistication that otherwise would never be a reality for us… I especially love the filigree three design!
I love letterpress and the elegance it adds to the occasion. Why we can’t afford it? Well, aside from weddings being expensive from the get-go…. we are doing everything on our own. Unfortunately after some major medical issues, my parents aren’t able to help and we have had to cut our budget, guestlist, plans, everything. This would be a great treat!
I know letterpress is far out of our budget, as we are trying to keep all wedding costs down due to the economy :( but after holding and feeling one letterpress invitation, I can’t bear the thought of budget stationery for our wedding.
I would melt to be able to send out letterpress invitations. I love the dramatic simplicity of letterpress (if that makes any sense). Plus, I’m a big tactile person, so I love being able to run my finger over letterpress.
My fiancé and I are getting married next August back home in Minnesota. We’ve been living and teaching on an island in the middle of the Pacific for the past few years. This summer we’ll be attempting to move back across the world, find new jobs, find a place to live, and pull off a fabulous wedding. This will no doubt amount to a fair bit of stress but not much spare change (I mentioned we are both teachers, right?)
i love anything paper and type, but my true love is letterpress. there is something about the raised characters and how it looks on a nice piece of heavy paper, but i digress. my fiance and i are paying for our own wedding. a few months ago i lost my job and have been unable to find one in this economy. unfortunately, this has pushed back our wedding date because we can’t exactly afford a one with only one income. i am doing all of the wedding planning myself, and will be making my own flowers and center pieces to help cut down the cost. i would be great to win and not have to make our invitations as well. (obviously, if i make them myself, they would never be letterpressed.)
Can I love letterpress enough for both myself and my fiance? =) The best part for me is the thick texture and the subtle 3-D goodness. I wish I could have in my hands what I only see in stationery stores and in pictures (oh camera macro, how you tease me).
My fiance and I are getting married in New York so that his grandparents and most of his family in the nearby area can attend.
Unfortunately, New York = cha-ching!, so we have to watch our budget closely. We’re soo thankful that the his family can be there, and we know that’s most important, even if it means that we won’t be able to save as much to spend on extra happy goodness. We can live without letterpress invitations, but it’d be such a great treat to have them!
Letterpress is the ultimate tactile invitation. I love the texture ….it makes the words seem even more special… but its subtly is was wins me over… it doesn’t shout luxury but rather whispers it softly for you to pay attention and want to learn more…
until you see how much they cost… then you want to shout for sure!!! hhahaha
Wow, all of the invitations on the website are absolutely gorgeous! Unfortunately, this beautiful work comes at a price my fiance and I cannot afford. I am having a vintage style wedding in Bloomington, IN and the letter press would be a fabulous touch. It is a beautiful piece of artwork that is chic, elegant and timeless. I would love to have this be a part of our special day!!!!
I love the Peony Park, it’s so elegant! I love letterpress, I’m a fan of all things handmade and made with love. Letterpress is very romantic and leaves a lasting impression with those that receive a letterpress card. My fiance is currently deployed to Iraq, this is the second wedding for us which means, we have bills, mortgages and a wedding to pay! Due to our tight finances we are planning a small wedding once he returns to the US late next year.

I’ll keep it short and sweet…
economy in the toilet, except for the NYC wedding industry which appears to still be thriving… that means tradeoffs galore. so our invite budget? had to go towards renting chairs to replace the awful red conference room chairs (not to mention limiting - I want purple and orange and red chairs just dont fit in with that) that come with our location.
How we’ll capture the spirit of our vintage/old hollywood wedding with DIY invites? still havent figured that one out… letterpress invites would set the stage AND add that cherry on top!
My favorite set is the Bubbling Brooke. Like our wedding it gives a classic a modern feel. Like everyone else here I could list several reasons why we can’t do letterpress on our own. My story is no more or less interesting than any of the given stories. I just know that I won’t be able to have something as artistically well done as invites from Don’t Press Me on my own.
