Oh I love the intro to this post!

My husband is short but still luckily found his size. The custom suit sounds really exciting though! Can't wait to hear more!

@Linda: I'm so glad you found something that worked!

@Josh: Thank you so much Josh! Finding your site was such a relief after being really frustrated after a long day of shopping. We are searching for a good custom shirt and a skinny tie now so we'll be stopping by your blog again. :)

@Maggie: Totally condescending! They definitely just wanted to make the sale and didn't give a crap about how it fitted. I wanted to throw a wet fish in their faces, but I suppose that's their job--to sell their product. Guess it's hard to tell people that what they are looking for does not exist in their store.

Good for you for holding your own - you know what looks good and actually fits, and it's terribly condescending for salesmen to think you do not. I'd think a modern suit with skinny tie would be a great look on your guy - and totally on-point with menswear trends, too!

Mo & EAD -- thanks so much for the nod to my blog. My wife and I had the exact same experience as you and your boy: everyone was trying to tell me that these swimming-in-it 36S suits fit me correctly. Sounds like you've got it figured out, but it is phenomenally frustrating.

I've got a lot of info on dress shirts and ties (I know they're supposed to be one-size-fits-all, but they're not) for smaller guys on my site, and I've been meaning to compile it all into a handy groom guide some day. Maybe this year.

Good luck to you, your man, and all the other shorter men out there trying to shine (almost, but not quite as brightly as their wives, of course) on their wedding day. And please drop me a line if I can help -- and I'd be interested in seeing the final result.

Cheers,
Josh

I hear you! My hubby is 5' 4" and a plus size man! We had a hard time finding jackets that fit his broad shoulders and pants that he didn't swim in. Finally his best friend found him a suit at K&G which we just had to alter the pants. The jacket fit perfectly. If he hadn't found that we were going the custom route.
