Katie and Paul’s wedding embodies so much of what I believe weddings should be – it’s full of sentiment and love, held in a place with meaning to the couple, and the photos, by Avery House, are truly lovely.
Katie says:
It all started when Paul planned the perfect proposal at Hidden Falls Ranch in Wayside Texas. Hidden Falls has played an enormous role in my life. It is where I grew up going every summer and where I met Paul. However, I had no idea how big a role it would play until March 8, 2009 when the love of my life led me down a path to a place called West Point. There, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him next to the Palo Duro Canyon, an antique church pew, and fabric blowing in the wind.

All of the metal folding chairs were vintage and came from an old abandoned school. Katie and Paul made sure to keep the funky green padding, and spray painted the chairs to dress them up.

I love these bridesmaids dresses! Fun, beautiful, and comfy, and sure to be worn again!

From Katie:
My inspiration for the reception began with a dark teal bottle and a peacock feather. I really wanted the wedding and reception to have an eclectic family picnic feel. I had so much fun finding the decor, and I actually ended up using a vase that my great grandmother made as one of my centerpieces.

The birdcages, lanterns, lights, and mason jar drinking glasses filled with tea really turned out perfect. I loved how relaxed it felt; it was truly like a great big picnic with an awesome canyon view.

Stevi and Matt, thank you so much for sharing your amazing work with EAD, and Katie, I loved hearing your story and seeing how your inspiration came together into such a beautiful event!

I am obsessed with the dress! I love that in certain lights the white really stands out and in others the teal/blue/seafoam/seamist really stands out. LOVE LOVE LOVE. I usually hate wedding dresses of colors other than white, but I now realize it’s because of the tone of the color like bright red, dark black, bright green, I’ve never seen a light color like this. Other color dresses end up looking to prom like to me. This is still VERY bridal!
I love the country feel in your wedding. Well done.
How did you make the paper stars? I love them and would like to make them!
Love the “picnic feel” that you created – especially the flowers in the jar with small stones/pebbles. Awesome!
I love the cake. I can’t see too much of it but from the angle but what I do see it’s beautiful. I hope this isn’t too strange but would you happen to have a picture of the full cake that I could see? I would really appreciate it, thank you so much.
