At-Home Brunch Reception

I am absolutely in love with today’s Inspired Creations Contest entry! The team of Viridian Design Studio, Thompson Poole Photography, Cartewheels Caterers, and PAPERooT created a brunch wedding reception concept, and both the food and tablescape are positively exquisite.

Drink Station

A small, at-home brunch wedding is the perfect way to be conservative with resources but design a celebration that is truly reflective of your personal style!  Even when budget is limited, you can have a sophisticated and well designed event, and the materials used, the food served, and the decor incorporated can be of the highest quality.  Incredibly, this concept was put together with a total spend of only $490.

Hibiscus TeaBrunch Wedding Place Setting

Bare wood tables were accented with simple stoneware and glassware, vintage Bakelite flatware and linen napkins.  A variety of white porcelain vessels and vintage china blanks filled the middle of the tables.  Viridian Design Studio created gorgeous centerpieces in shades of pale blue, yellow, green, and peach – perfect for the otherwise spare design.

Roosters made their appearance throughout, beginning with the paper goods and ending with a cast iron rooster at each place setting.

Cartewheels Caterers created a simple and sophisticated brunch buffet of stone fruit panzanella, baked quail eggs in ham cups, ginger scones with matcha green tea butter, roasted tomatoes with thyme, lychee bellinis and hibisicus tea.

The detail of stitching was echoed throughout the paper goods in this concept – I love it!  Sky blue ziz-zag stitched secured textured white paper to kraft cardstock for the menu signs.

Stitched Menu Cards

Simple postcard save the dates showcased our friend the rooster, as did the recipe cards and recipe tea towels.

The invitations featured three layers of fabulous textured paper with a delicate robin’s egg blue stitching detail.  Each invitation included a blank recipe card with instructions to fill out the recipe card with a favorite family recipe and memory and return it with the reply card. The cards can be compiled into a collection of recipes from their combined families and placed in a gorgeous modern leather recipe card box to be given as gifts to each family attending, a perfect blending of family tradition and modern design!

  2. I so LOVE this idea! Thank you for sharing especially since my second wedding will likely be a morning one followed by the Elvis in Vegas wedding that evening. I was sort of stressing over the cost of a wedding since funds have been tight after starting my small business two years ago. I greatly appreciate how the design team created an elegant, sophisticated wedding on a budget. Awesome work!!

I love this rustic, yet elegant concept. Everything works together so well. Viridian has done it again! And Cartwheels catering looks scrumptious. The invitations, paper work etc appeals to me as I have loved chickens/roosters since I was a child. A sunrise wedding tops it off with freshness.

She doesn’t just line people up in a row to take pictures (although she was more than happy to take portrait shots.) What she does is tell the *story* of your wedding day. She took so many beautiful pictures, was so professional, and an absolute sweetheart. Her partner Denise was outstanding as well. Denise was always there for us when we had any questions and was so caring and professional. BOTH of them still check in with us on a regular basis to see how we are doing. I would HIGHLY recommend using Thompson-Poole Photography for your wedding! The wedding is only one day, but you will have beautiful pictures of the special day to look at for the rest of your life.

As a born-and-raised country girl, this concept appeals to me on so many levels. The rustic chic look is epitomized in this entire soiree! The antique roosters, rough wood, and vintage place settings combined with the sophistication in the food and the elegant yet friendly flower arrangements lend themselves to the idea of a family gathered ’round the table at sunrise in a countryside cottage. Thus, the concept imagined and created by the artists of this event is portrayed with seemingly effortless ease! The whimsy of the entire gathering is not lost in a cutsy look, but formed by talented hands into a sense of elegance and grace, as exhibited by the recipe submission idea, which gives a nod to the time-honored tradition of passing down wisdom and sharing love, as any wedding reception should embrace.
    Simply? Delightfully idyllic!

  104. Simply beautiful! The mix of various textures and the calming color palette in the flowers makes this reception seem like it’d be the perfect mix of rustic and fabulous!

    As always, beautiful work ladies!

  112. I am so impressed with the attention to detail that this brunch presents. Every element has been thoughtfully designed without even appearing so. The flowers are absolutely gorgeous with the pale blues and greens accented with just a pop of dramatic darks to place visual focus on the blossoms themselves. The inclusion of the vintage details I also found stunning as well as the simplicity of the complete package. The menu is so original and appealing. Overall a beautiful presentation, just as one expects from Viridian, inviting perfection made comfortable for all to relish and share.

The save the date cards are precious. I also love the tea towels and the RSVP recipe idea. Creating a recipe book is a great way for everyone to share in the bride and groom’s special day, with the result being a yummy keepsake that keeps on giving!
