Dandelion Wine

It’s safe to say that I’m in love with all of the unique details in this Inspired Creations Contest wedding concept from the team of Sara from Sara Gray Photography, Kim and Bonnie from Punch, and Kathy from The Party Place.  The entire concept was inspired by Kim’s love for the book Dandelion Wine by Ray Bradbury.

Literary Theme Wedding

Kim purchased a copy of Bradbury’s book at a thrift store as a teenager and fell in love with the story, cherishing the book over time as the book became lovingly worn and yellowed.  Kim and Bonnie, partners in Punch bonded over their shared love for the book and its namesake blooms.  When the team came together to decide on a concept, dandelions were in bloom and the time was right to design a unique wedding idea based on Bradbury’s novel. The result is an elegant, clean, less-is-more approach with a touch of whimsy.

Incredibly, the team spent a mere $55 to create and design this entire concept.

Pages from Kim’s beloved copy of the book were used on the walls to create a stunning visual display and tucked into the menu at each place setting.

To create the “floating” dandelion centerpiece, the team began by assembling a box from a salvaged fence.  Small finishing nails were hammered through the underside, and once the nails were in place the handpicked dandelions were slid on top, creating a centerpiece that appears to be floating.

A dandelion rubber stamp made its appearance on all of the printed items, including the menus, which were elegantly displayed on crisp white porcelain plates.  The small pop of yellow brightened the modern color palette of gray, white, and brown.

  1. How wonderful is this? The great thing is, this idea could translate a lot of different ways. How romantic would it be to buy and old used romance novel or Shakespeare and use the pages at your reception? I think it’s just so perfect…and you could still use the awesome dandelions and wine!

This is so pretty! It makes me sad that we have kids because I know exactly what would happen to those pretty floating dandelions in about 3 seconds. :(

I love how simple, modern and nerdy this is! I’m a former English major so this totally appeals to me in so many ways!

A perfect blend of written imagination/intellect and visual beauty, in the most subtle and literal way. The way I see it: what’s better than enjoying a glass of vino outside on a perfect summer day, reading your favorite book, and then sharing all you’ve daydreamed from the inspiration with your friends over a delicious meal later?
