Our Wedding Album

Wow, I can’t believe this is the last post about my wedding… I guess it’s about time since the wedding was almost eight (!) months ago, but the time really just flew by.

Wedding-Album

So, the final piece of my wedding pie (mmm…) is the album. When I was in the planning stage I saw lots of options, but they all seemed to be SUPER expensive. At the time I just couldn’t commit to spending $1,000 plus on something I felt I didn’t need right away. I figured I would just wait until I had saved enough and buy it post-wedding.

Then I found out about Blurb – amazing. It’s a website for anyone that wants to make any kind of book, but it seems like most people that use it are making photography-heavy books. Intriguing, right? So, I downloaded the software (it’s free, another big plus) and figured I’d just play around.

Well, I ended up making the wedding album of my dreams on Blurb. And I paid less than $100 for it. And it looks GOOD (if I do say so myself!). Check it out and let me know what you think:

The cool thing about Blurb is that you can make your own page layouts or use the ones they already have set up (there are tons).

You can pick the type of cover you want – a hardcover with either a dust jacket or an image printed right on it (we opted for the dust jacket because I wasn’t sure how much would get cut off and Brian’s head is very close to the top of the image on our cover… nobody wants a headless groom).

album-6

I didn’t have any expectations about what my wedding album would be like, so I love the way this turned out… but I could see someone that flipped through their parents album on a daily basis growing up wanting a more traditional album. What do you think?

Now that my wedding recaps are over, I wanted to reach out to you guys to see if there was anything I missed. Did you see a picture and wonder what the heck was going on? Do you have a burning question about one of my vendors? Do you want to know more about the bridal party’s attire? Do you want to know what my something old, something new, something borrowed something blue? Ask away! I’m happy to answer any questions about my wedding!

You can find all of my previous wedding recap posts here. I have loved reliving every moment here on the blog, thank you so much for reading along!

  1. SO BEAUTIFUL..Congrats, you did such a wonderful job on it..I also recently just picked up my album and felt the same way with it being the last piece of the wedding that was lingering on. Enjoy spending days going through it and reminscing…

  2. It looks FANTASTIC!!! We ordered our big album from our photographer (which is awesome!) but I’m planning on making our parents each one with Blurb! Haven’t had a chance to play with it yet…now I’m all excited to get started after seeing how amazing your album turned out!!

  5. This is so sweet…honestly, I almost teared up looking at it, just so beautiful and meaningful as well. I have no wedding album from my casual wedding 26 years ago….oh the regret!!!!!!

  6. What was your something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue?

  7. Gosh, just my opinion, but books like this make me feel bereft. They look too much like magazines. I prefer one print per page, old school, and archival.

Thanks for all the sweet comments – I’ve LOVED sharing my wedding story with EAD and I am so touched to hear that you guys enjoyed reading about it…

@Emma – my something old was my grandmother’s pin (which was actually her grandmother’s that she wore on her wedding day, as did her mother, my great-grandmother). I wore it on the knot in my sash (in the back). My something new was my dress. My something borrowed was my veil (a friends) and my mother’s pearl earrings. My something blue was my pair of navy shoes. I also had a sixpence in my shoe (which, I learned, was another line of that wedding poem.

@Angela Cappetta – I definitely understand the appeal of the traditional wedding album, but I loved that in mine I could have a page that brought in more that just a single picture would. For example, the page that has a photo of my grandfather and various views of the hurricane candle, which represented those who could not be here – one of those people was my grandmother, his wife, who died the week after I got engaged. That page is so meaningful to me because, in a way, she is there, too. I don’t think I could have gotten that from a traditional, one picture per page album.

  9. Beautiful photos Natalie!!! What did you think of the quality of Blurb’s printing/color/pages? We got a sample from them once, and unfortunately I was disappointed. They could have improved since then though. Don’t get me wrong…I think your pics are fantastic!

@Rhonda – I think the picture quality is wonderful on the album (and I am VERY picky about such things!). All the pages are clear and the pictures look like they do in the prints I had made.

@Rewindpics – It took me quite a while to get it just right, mostly because I created many of the page layouts myself and it took me FOREVER to decide which picture to use where. But I also loved spending time doing it, so it didn’t feel too arduous…
