Fall in the Countryside

I’m excited to welcome back the uber-talented Chelsea Fuss to Elizabeth Anne Designs!  For this fall scene, Chelsea imagined a weekend celebration in the country, where guests bring their scarves and wellies and dine outdoors amidst the changing leaves.

The table is set with a navy blue cloth, simple dishtowel napkins, antique goblets and a wooden bowl of plums, black grapes, and pears. Mahogany chivari chairs help to set the scene. The table is deceptively elegant – the chair and linen rentals are a bit of a splurge, but the rest is surprisingly inexpensive. The napkins are 49 cents at Ikea, goblets were found at Goodwill, and the centerpiece cost less than $15!

To create the DIY table number, you will need:

Number stencil
White paint
Craft knife (optional)
Glue stick
Fabric
2 postcards
Heavy duty tape

  • Tape two postcards together with strong tape (we used bookbinding tape but packing tape or painters tape will do)
  • Cover the outside with glue and then stick cotton fabric to it
  • Using a craft knife, trim the edge (you could also just fold it over to the other side and secure with more glue)
  • Use a simple stencil (found at art supply or hardware stores) and white acrylic paint to paint the table number
  • Fold the cards so they stand up on their own
