These string spheres are genius, I tell you. Pure genius for pennies. Wrap yarn/string around balloon. Spray with fabric stiffener. Pop balloon, and voila!

Can’t you just see these hanging behind the altar or from the rafters? Love!

i can’t decide if these would be flammable…i’m imagining them square [wrapped around a box maybe?] with candles inside

Raspberry is everywhere… I predict it’ll be one of next seasons big colors! This is practical and beautiful!
I love it. Such a simple yet effective idea. I think maybe the candle inside might be a fire danger but none the less it fantastic.
it is an wonderful idea, thank you for sharing
How long does it take for the strings to dry using the fabric stiffener?
If you’re worried about candles being a fire danger you could always use ‘flicker flames’ (http://www.christmaslightsetc.com/p/LED-Battery-Operated-Tea-Christmas-Lights-with-Flicker-Flame-6-Per-box.–19562.htm).
Put them in a frosted glass for better effect.
we’re putting in mini white battery operated christmas lights in the large centerpiece. In the smaller ones, we’re cuting a hole in the bottom of the sphere and putting the sphere over a votive that is in a glass….using a battery operated flicker tea light.
I did this for a bridal shower recently and it turned out really well.
I did a few tests runs prior to the event and ended up using Mod-Podge (basically a watered down elmer’s glue) instead of spray fabric stiffener, a sponge brush for application, and basic white string. I let them sit overnight to dry. Before I popped the balloons I also used the back end of a paintbrush to slide under the parts that got stuck to the balloon so that it popped cleanly without collapsing the string with it.
We might make these again for the actual wedding day.
To the person who wants to put candles in them- don’t. That’s just a silly fire hazard. Flammable string 4 inches over a flame, hmm…
