I love easy crafty projects, and was excited when Meg Perotti posted an easy step-by-step tutorial for making your own teacup candles! Teacup candles make beautiful additions to any tabletop or lovely and thoughtful favors. Meg thrifted her teacups at Salvation Army and Goodwill, and purchased candle making supplies on Etsy and at Michaels.

First, you will need wicks and stabilizers. Use a small amount of hot glue to adhere the wick to the bottom of your teacup.

Next, melt your wax. Meg purchased a crock pot with a spout, which made this step easy! When melting your wax, be sure it’s on a sturdy surface that is completely covered to avoid mess. Melt large amounts of wax at once and add any scent you like!

Use simple barbeque skewers to hold the wick in place while pouring. Tape the skewers together at one end to avoid slippage. If you are not lucky enough to have a crock pot with a spout, pour very carefully! Be sure to leave about 1/2″ space at the top so that the wax does not run over the edge when the candle is lit.

Set your teacup on a flat surface to dry, and do not move the cup while drying.

Voila! Beautiful and easy teacup candles! Thanks Meg!

OK, that spouted crock pot is a FIND! I’m not sure I would make a bazillion of these without it! Very pretty.
