Things I Love: Olive

Whether by itself or as an accent to other florals, olive gives a rustic, Spanish/Italian feel to decor. Any time I see it, I am transported to the Mediterranean and immediately start to have cravings for prosciutto, olive oil, and incredibly fresh bread. The silver-green color of the leaves is soft and subtle and works really well in both classic and rustic weddings. Pair it with soft florals, use a couple stems as details here or there, or place large bunches in rustic urns for a dramatic effect.

Instead of using lots of olive everywhere, consider a few strategically placed pieces, either at guests’ place settings or on your wedding cake.

Use olive branch wreaths as decorations for doors, walls, or chairs. Use ribbons in your colors or place some of your flowers on the wreath to really tie it in to the rest of the decor.

What other ways could you incorporate olive into decor? Did you use olive or love it as much as I do? I’d love to hear!
