Classic Pink DC Wedding

There’s nothing quite like a classic DC wedding, and Laura and Brendan’s Columbia Country Club wedding had us at hello! The couple wanted their wedding to be festive, fun, and fancy, and their black-tie evening affair was brought to life by A. Dominick Events. They selected a color palette of gold and pink with arrangements of fluffy peonies, hydrangea, and ranunculus from The Delighted Eye and a delectable cake from Fluffy Thoughts CakesLa Tavola pink sequin linens graced the tables, because as Laura says “a little sparkle never hurt anyone!” Not only are these two incredibly in love, but their wedding also looks like an absolutely fabulous party, with guests enjoying the sounds of Doctor’s Orders. We adore every frame from Bonnie Sen!

From the bride: Brendan and I met the summer leading into our sophomore year of high school at the fourth of July fireworks at Columbia Country Club – the same place we would celebrate our marriage ten years later.

Towards the end of my freshman year of high school, one of my closest friends told me he knew a boy that I’d really like. He mentioned this a few times and later that summer we finally met. As you can imagine, it was your typical awkward teenage encounter. I kept trying to make conversation – he barely spoke. Neither of us was what the other person had envisioned, but I was incredibly intrigued by this very quiet, cute fifteen year old boy. He called me afterwards and we spoke for five hours. I suppose you could say the rest is history!

Nine years later, I was still smitten and had a feeling that Brendan may be planning to propose. I had been talking to my friend, who would later serve as my maid of honor, and told her I had a theory: if Brendan got me a small birthday present, it meant he would probably propose soon; if he got me a big gift then it probably wouldn’t happen for a while. When she called me the day after my birthday to ask, I told her I was more confused than ever because he had given me a trip to the beautiful Cloister at Sea Island in Georgia.

On our last night in Sea Island, we went for a walk along the beautiful marshes. Just before we were ready to head back for the evening Brendan took me to the end of the dock by the Yacht Club and proposed. It was incredibly picturesque and perfect!

We wanted our wedding to be just like us: festive, fun and fancy. When I walked into the reception, I felt as if I had stepped into in a fairytale. Between the La Tavola sequin linens, beautiful flower arrangements and lighting the setting was pristine. By the end of the night, I had never felt so loved by my new husband and all of our families and friends. I will cherish that feeling for the rest of my life and cannot help by smile anytime I think back to that day – the best day of our lives.
