Really NOW: Cynthia and Ron!
There’s probably a gazillion reasons that I love Cynthia and Ron. No, really. No, seriously. They’re wonderful. Their love is infectious. It’s easy to capture, really easy to be around, and SUPER easy to witness. Their wedding day was like waking up love and telling him to pay attention. Magical. And there was nobody better to capture that story than Sarah K. Chen. These pictures are more than I’d hoped and prayed for. They are a pleasure to look at, because I get to remember all that the Second day of May entailed. Pictures of hope, of joy, of love. Ugh, I’m taken back just flipping through them. I can only ask that this re-kindles the love you have…
The backdrop to their big day was perfect: The Cravens Estate in Pasadena is a historic property now operating as the Red Cross building. It’s gorgeous interiors filled with antique accents and the grounds themselves were enough to get excited about- talk about the perfect blank slate!!
Did I mention I made these? Yep, In The Now Weddings proudly debuts their floral line!! Okay, okay, not entirely true, but I am now offering full event design to clients which includes floral design. Phew. This one was a bit nerve wracking, but with Cynthia’s trust and witty banter in her emails [all that signified and reiterated time and time again how much she truly trusted ME and my judgement, taste, talent... ], I knew I’d hit a home run. And I did! I have such a wonderful team!!

Real Weddings: Robert + Lisa
Loving Lisa and Robert’s Virginia wedding, shared with us by Stephen and Jennifer of Love Life Images. These two are so photogenic and Lisa is such a radiant bride! The hot pink accents to this wedding add such a pop.
And check out their three positively ADORABLE flower girls!
Love me some colored shoes!

Really NOW: Alex and Brad!
I don’t have enough good things to say about the fabulous duo of Jan and Tey at Jan Garcia Photography. They’re in love. They’re sweet. And they’re exceptional at their art. What could be a more perfect package? Well, Alex and Brad might be!
Alex made such a stunning bride. And working with her every step of the way was total and utter fabulousness in overload for me! The Chapel at Lake Hills in south Orange County made the perfect backdrop for this clean, modern style wedding. It’s so full of natural beauty and charm, we hardly brought anything into it! Some chiffon draped down the aisle and we were done!
Alex was the first of their 3 girls to get married. It was such an emotional day for her family! Don’t worry- they still have a few more YEARS before they’ve gotta do it all over again!

Theme and variations: Blue inspiration boards!
Thank you to everyone who submitted requests for inspiration boards. Here are the first four, which coincidentally each had bits of blue in them! It was certainly a challenge to differentiate each, but I hope you like them!
For Abbie, who was looking for a kelly green and light blue, “JCrew goes to the rodeo” wedding. I LOVE the idea of the cowboy boots–but why just display them? How about having your bridesmaids each wear a pair, or showcasing your favorite pair under your dress? This is a beautiful, bright, and cheerful palette. I hope you enjoy it!

For Julybug, who was looking for a sapphire blue wedding, with some yellow, for her seaside/backyard, eclectic wedding. I loved the idea of bringing the linen color in too, and pulling in the colors of the beach in a muted, sweet way. The blue glasses on the table are one of my favorite features–they would look absolutely stunning on tables!

Real Weddings: Laurel + Darren, Part II
As I said earlier today, I completely flipped for the details in Laurel and Darren’s gorgeous Seattle wedding. Their amazing photographer, Michèle M. Waite, captured everything so beautifully, and the details were engineered by Steven Moore Designs.
The reception, held at Seattle’s Arctic Club Hotel, featured this gorgeously romantic cake buffet. Not only do I love the small cakes themselves, but I also adore the crystal cake stands and accompanying floral arrangements.
As for the tables themselves, each one held a unique centerpiece. The variety added so much character to the wedding!

Real Weddings: Laurel + Darren, Part I
Today’s wedding, brought to us by the uber-talented Michèle M. Waite, is so lovely. I fell for the details the moment I laid eyes on it!
Laurel is a radiant bride and this series of portraits is absolutely stunning. The lighting is so perfectly dramatic.
Love this shot of the bridesmaids - in matching robes no less!

Real Weddings: Rich + Vanessa
Today’s gorgeous real wedding is brought to you by the ever- fabulous Rebekah Westover. Rich and Vanessa had a beautiful black and white damask wedding in Salt Lake City.
The ceremony was held at the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. Love this shot!
Fresh green was the perfect accent color to the black and white damask theme.

Real Weddings: Nicole + Raul
It’s official. I am very much in love with every detail of this wedding. Nicole and Raul had a spectacularly fun Portland Maine wedding, and not only that, but Nicole’s best friend is none other than Sara from the amazing Whitebox Weddings. So while Sara was vamping it up as the Matron of Honor, Melanie was capturing the day in a fabulous way!
To start the day, the wedding party headed out to the Portland Yacht Services for some pictures. I love this one - what perfect weather for a wedding!
Nicole is a stunning bride - this photo may be my favorite from the day:

Real Weddings: Jenny + Micah
When I saw a few images from Tana Photography on With This Ring, I knew I had to find out more. I’m happy I did! Tana’s blog is filled with the loveliest of images from my home state of Idaho. She graciously sent over images from two weddings and we’re so happy to share them with you!
Micah and Jenny began their marriage in September of last year. They used pears throughout the celebration, and the result is so chic and sweet.
The lovely couple (how gorgeous is Jenny?!)
Oh the details! How we love them. The pears are perfect for the colors and location. They chose mostly black and white with a few hints of green.

A modern twist to a classic look
Classic Black and White never go out of style. While you can’t go wrong with a traditional invitation of black Engraving on Ecru paper, why not update this classic and try the reverse with a touch of metallic gold? What you will end up with is a stunning invitation that sets the mood for an elegant affair.
We love subtle details of gold and white paired with touches of black create a combination that is both elegant and modern.

Ditching the Norm
My favorite thing I ever hear from a bride is “this might sound crazy, but…” because I know whatever follows that statement is something I’m going to love. Be creative when gathering inspiration for your wedding design. The inspiration board below was created from a snapshot of a zebra that one of our clients adored. The mood, colors and sophistication are captured in all of the ideas for the day. Remember, you are the only one who gets to dictate the inspiration for your day.
