Real Weddings: Matt + Jill
I love winter. It’s such a magical season… when fresh snow blankets the ground there is a peace about the world. Minneapolis certainly sees its fair share of snow, which makes it a perfect setting for a classic winter wedding. Matt and Jill’s wedding, captured by the lovely Laura Ivanova, is one of those weddings. The portraits in the snow make my heart melt.
Jill chose to accompany her San Patrick gown with her grandmother’s vintage stole and elbow-length gloves.
Real Weddings: Meggie + Josh
I always love featuring weddings in my hometown of Greenville, SC. Lucky for me, the fantastic Rachel and Rebecca from Millie Holloman Photography shared Meggie and Josh’s wedding, which was held at the beautiful Lenora’s Legacy in Campobello.
Real Weddings: Elise + Patrick
Elise and Patrick’s wedding truly is a “favorite” of 2009. Jesse and Whitney from Our Labor of Love are amazing people, and on top of that, they are amazing photographers. Their work is light and airy, colorful and artistic, honest and pure.
Real Weddings: Lindsay + Ryan
Lindsay and Ryan were married at the gorgeous The Marvimon House in Los Angeles. Jordana from Hazelnut Photography so clearly captured not only Lindsay and Ryan’s obvious love but also the unique beauty of the space!
All of the floral was created by Holly Flora, and I love the orange and yellow tones that she mixed in – perfect for the Marvimon.
Rosemary was scattered in the aisle for the ceremony…
Real Weddings: Melissa + Ben
Melissa and Ben’s wedding is so heartfelt, it’s truly wonderful to see how in love they are and how deeply they love their families and honor their traditions.
The fabulous Erin Johnson captured all of the details of their Wisconsin wedding, held at Windbeam Farm. Trudi and Paul Schaefer, the owners of Windbeam Farm, went above and beyond for the event – Trudi created all of the amazing floral you will see and Paul ran the barbeque!
I adore Ben’s boutonniere! His family is from Canada, so Trudi incorporated a maple leaf from a tree on the farm in with the wildflowers.
All of the portraits are just too cute… especially this one with the scarecrows!
Real Weddings: Karisa + Arvind
Arvind and Karisa have such a sweet story, and their wedding was a total handmade community affair! I adore the photography by Ellie Grover – she captured the love between the couple and the sweet details of the day perfectly.
Karisa and Arvind met while volunteering in India. Ellie says: It wasn’t until Karisa’s last day that Arvind made his feelings known, and today they’ve made it past the hurdle of a long distance relationship all the way to their marriage vows!
Karisa’s beautiful gown was handmade by a friend with silk from India.
All of the flowers were created by a friend of the couple with flowers purchased at the LA Flower District Market. The peach, orange, and yellow flowers coordinate perfectly with the bridesmaids’ vibrant green J Crew gowns!
Real Weddings: Laura + Will
Laura and Will infused so much creativity and DIY skills into their Temecula wedding! Photographed by the wonderful Marlin Munoz, this wedding has a little bit of everything lovely set against the beautiful backdrop of the Callaway Winery.
Along with her talented sister-in-law Erin, Laura created all of the bouquets and tablescapes with flowers purchased from Trader Joe’s. I love the vibrant bouquets that they composed. Set against icy gray dresses from J Crew the result is just stunning!
Real Weddings: Lori + Jonathan
Everything about Lori and Jonathan’s wedding is pretty much perfect. We have puppies with handmade ribbon collars and leashes, the most beautiful DIY flowers, a light and fun color palette of yellow and gray, and an Austin, TX wedding venue that is so unique and different. And on top of that, Heather from Eclectic Images outdid herself with spectacular photography, capturing every little detail and special moment!
Lori’s gals were decked out in gray bridesmaids dresses by J Crew and wore yellow shoes of their choosing and yellow flowers in their hair.
Not to be outdone, Jonathan and his groomsmen are dapper in their Chuck Taylors and the couple’s three pups sported yellow ribbon collars and leashes. Aren’t they precious?!
Real Weddings: Kristen + Matt
Every now and then I come across a wedding that is not only drop-dead gorgeous, but it’s so creative it warms my soul. That’s Kristen and Matt’s wedding. Kristen, an art director for a cosmetics company, created the entire event herself from start to finish, and the result, photographed by the talented and sweet Daisy Varley, was absolute perfection.
Kristen chose a Mexican fiesta theme for the wedding, full of bright colors, family traditions, paper flowers, and fabulous details!
Bridesmaids were asked to choose a Mexican peasant dress and hem it to their liking.
The wedding was held at Condor’s Nest Ranch in Pala, CA. Guests were able to stay on the grounds, so signs pointed the way to the wedding and the camping!
Real Weddings: Crista + Bill
I have been so busy with wedding season that I have fallen behind a bit on sharing lovely weddings with all the fabulous EAD readers. But I am so happy to be able to share a truly stunning and inspirational wedding from Labor Day weekend with all of you.
Crista and Bill were married at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) here in Chicago. I was so excited about this wedding, as it was one of the last before a wonderful exhibit by Olaffur Eliasson was taken down (if he ever exhibits in your city, please go!). This was my favourite exhibit I’ve seen in a long while, and I couldn’t wait to shoot in such a colourful and inspiring environment.
Bill and Crista are both creatives, and Crista did a beautiful job pulling together a gorgeous event that felt relaxed and artistic. It was also an incredibly emotional day, with Crista and her sister crying throughout the day–it was really lovely and sweet, and I was so happy to be able to share in the day along with my second photographer, Frank. Also, a big thanks to the amazing team at Kehoe Designs for designing the stunning florals that perfectly played off the rainbow of colours in the exhibit, while not being overkill. Really wonderful job; highly recommend them for very creative and unique displays and bouquets (we were all swooning over the succulents)!
Opening a present from Bill…
Real Weddings: Jennifer + Travis
Travis and Jennifer’s wedding was full of fabulous details and was made even more wonderful by the amazing photos from Katie Stoops of Open Air Photography.
Cowboy boots for the bride + a fluffy sunflower bouquet = perfection.
The Marriott Ranch was the perfect venue for the couple’s casual farm wedding. It’s nestled in tiny Hume, VA (about an hours drive from Washington DC) at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Le sigh – look how beautiful it is!
