A Few of My Favorite Weddings
All of my brides become like my own children and I am sad to let each of them go. I keep track of some and I have fond memories of all! These are just a few of my favorites.
From Elfreth’s Alley, to the Art Museum, to poolside at the country club; I have enjoyed every wedding and have lasting memories of making all of these smiles!
Editor’s Note: Thank you so much to Wendy for sharing her insight and experience over the past week! We so appreciate all of the time she put into her posts for this week. Don’t forget to check Wendy out in April on 96.5 in Philadelphia!

Real Weddings: Darah + Greg 7.3.07
On July 3, 2007 Darah and Greg tied the knot in the Cathredral of Saints Peter and Paul in Philadelphia. Darah is so full of life and fun - and their wedding was no exception! I met Darah while doing another wedding where she was the make up artist. With all of the hoopla in the city of Liberty and the Declaration of Independence around us, we trolleyed through the streets taking pictures on rooftops, beside fountains, in Elfreth’s Alley and in some very unique locations around the city.

Wendy’s Wired
Wendy will be a presenter at a bridal event sponsored by Wired 96.5 (a Philadelphia radio station) in April. She will be hosting a Q & A and giving tips to hundreds of brides before the big fashion show. She can’t wait to share everything she’s learned from her past clients and help girls who are just getting started. Congratulations Wendy!
Be sure to check her blog for more information in April.

Old Academy Players
I have just discovered a little gem tucked away in the East Falls section of Philadelphia that I have to share. If you are a bride on a budget, with a flair for DIY projects and want to be a princess for a day, Old Academy Players is the place for you. Get married on the stage that Princess Grace got her start and then turn the adjoining building into a beautiful and intimate affair! This venue isn’t for everyone, but it is worth looking at. I can’t wait to do a wedding there!

Location, Location, Location!
Location is so much a part of a perfect wedding! Here are two venues that I would suggest in the Philadelphia area.
The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts is my favorite venue to work. There are two buildings - one an Art Deco building with a marble staircase and red walls and the other, pictured here, a modern art gallery with hardwood floors and an edgy feel. The staff is marvelous and the food delicious, provided by Duffy’s Catering.

Why A Wedding Planner?
I can’t tell you how many times I have been asked this question! Hiring a planner is the best investment you can make in your wedding.
Whether you hire one for the day of or the whole process, a planner can take the pressure off and make the planning process more fun and less stressful. Or course, if you watch those “reality” shows, you may ask yourself - “are they for real?!” Well, unfortunately, yes they are. Be careful! Just because someone planned their own wedding and is now charging dirt cheap prices for helping you, doesn’t make them a wedding planner. Florists are not wedding planners, the event coordinator at the club or the hotel is not a wedding planner and your Aunt Sally may be more than willing to help out, but she is not equipped to handle emergencies on your wedding day.
You want a planner that is there for YOU- from beginning to end! This is the most important day of your life! Don’t entrust it to just anyone. Ask questions, do your homework and get references.
Ed. Note - hiring a planner is especially useful if you are planning an event in a city outside your own. What is so great about weddings these days, though, is the ability to research online to find local vendors and do a lot of the legwork of planning yourself. If this sounds fun to you, then you might think you don’t need a planner, but I’m of the opinion that NO ONE should be without a day of coordinator. You really should enjoy your event and not have the responsibility of sticking to the timeline, cleaning up after the reception, or handling catering snafus fall to you, your family, or your wedding party. Guest Blogger Wendy
I’m so excited for this upcoming week - not just because we’re GREEN, but also because we have our first guest blogger - Wendy from Wendy’s Affairs of Heart! Wendy is an event coordinator based out of Philadelphia, so we’ll be focusing a lot on the City of Brotherly Love this week.
Wendy says:
Let me just say that I take a very personal approach to my business and I will do whatever it takes to make your wedding the most magical day of your life! My background is unique and I bring many things to the job that others just don’t. My committment to you, the bride, is foremost in my mind at all times. After all, this is about you, not me! If your wedding is a success, then so am I.
We’re so excited to welcome Wendy and we are looking forward to her expertise!
